>so how does this thing work?
Its an overlay on your nerve fibers and spinal cord that transmit sensory information to and from your brain multiple times faster than normal nerves do

in essence its like having ultra instinct and for the user it makes it seem as though time slows down because they are able to tell their body to react faster than an unaugmented human ever could

it can also overload the brain and nervous system causing horrific side effects or psychosis, or can cause the user to overexert themselves and tear their muscles / break their own limbs instantly if they don't use it carefully

Anonymous No.719973174 [Report]

its not that high tech, its just nerve replacement and brain interface

sandivistan is meant to be paired with augmented limbs and muscles because otherwise a normal human would just tear themselves apart

I forget what his name is but the MC of the show 'chromes out' because thats the only way to keep using a sandivistan, because you destroy your normal body/muscles

you're reading way too much into it, the 'time stop' portrayed in the tv show is just artistic elements, like the 'breathing techniques' in demon slayer are also not actually happening and its just humans swinging swords around

sandi makes it feel like for the user that time is slowed down because their enhanced nerves and brain tissue processes sensory information more quickly
Anonymous No.719973407 [Report]
its a stupid setting where the storytelling is reliant of some people having magic brains that are uniquely capable to use the components because if everyone could then some corporation would have hundreds of soldiers using invincible augmentations moving at speed of light to destroy their opponents

He literally thought he was built different, nobody understands that cyberpsychosis is just caused by a detachment from the human condition, not even because of some intrinsic property of the cybernetics, but because cyborgs end up isolated from other people. The spine acts as additional processing power to overclock your brain and create a time dilation effect. Cybernetic joints throughout your body allow your body to keep up with your accelerated mind by pushing the tech to the limits of what it can handle.

But yeah, the speed is over exaggerated. Especially in the anime.

Anonymous No.719975932 [Report]
>>719971491 (OP)
In the original setting Sandevistans don't work the way they do in the Game or Anime. They're supposed to just be Reflex Augmentations to help you React quickly when a fight starts. It'd have the bullet time effect but you wouldn't be able to ignore the slowdown yourself. It's essentially a tool for ambushing other augmented individuals with gear like Kereznikov. Giving you that little bit of extra oomph during a short time frame compared to slightly slower but permanently activated reflex boosters.

Now if you augmented other limbs to give you more speed and motor control, and combined that with a Sandie it makes sense, but outside of Cyberpunk 2077 it's not supposed to be the Sandie itself that gives you the Super Speed.
Anonymous No.719975937 [Report] >>719976412
>>719975474
It's not a "tolerance" to the implants, that's just the soulless corpos assumption because they're nihilists concerning the human condition. People with high empathy hold out against cyberpsychosis because they don't feel isolated despite the implants. On the other side of that coin, you have Adam Smasher, who isn't a cyberpsycho because he's already a conventional psycho. Human connection never meant anything to him, so it doesn't matter how much of his flesh gets replaced.

For example, David wasn't losing it because of the suit installation, he was losing it because he was at risk of losing Lucy, he snapped out of it instantly when he got her back.

Well first off the portrayal in the Anime is an exaggeration the real ones aren't quite that op. Second the way it works is it replaces the slow(relative to the speed of light) bioelectric signals your neural system usually uses with near lightspeed signals. In addition to the sandy you would need eyes that can keep up and for greater effect cyberlimbs. Timeskip David has all of this and more, and even pre time skip has at least basic cybereyes.

>how does this thing work
it increases the rate on how fast your body operates both Mentally and Physically so you can move and perceive things at a faster rate. That's why the spine is altered, as it's sending signals to the rest of the body at a faster rate then you can with a regular spine.

the brain is given a operating system (aka a spinal attachment) that allows you to "slow down time" but what it's really doing is increasing how fast you register the world around you. basically meaning you essentially live with eyes and a brain that act like a slow motion camera in real time. to put in simple terms. one second in real time for you is now 30 seconds because of how fast you operate now. in other words it pretty much would be like this for you:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnZqB5Z75zI

in real life to get this level of operating speed you basically need to be a robocop level of cyborg but in the show and game it's just a quick operation.

Ironically, show highlights the absolute state of mercs in the setting much better than the game. They are some of the lowest forms of life along with prostitutes, and they even more disposable and live considerably less. The most important difference is that in the show the merc crew had a clearly defined goal that involved leaving that life behind eventually, while the game peddles some retarded shit about how replacing your body with weapons so you could be used in a crypto-corporate wars for a spare charge makes you some kind of "legend" lmao.

the gist far as i can figure is that it's basically avoiding augmentation rejection. think of adam jensen from the deus ex prequels; he's basically immune to aug rejection because he's the rare DNA and potentially a testtube baby specifically for being able to handle such things, but most everyone else in that world regularly require medicine to help keep their body in check so that it doesn't suddenly feel tons of pain and reject augmentations since the human body loves to freak the everliving fuck out at things not being "right".
now imagine that in an even more dystopian setting where every other aug around the street potentially has a gun in their leg, an engine in their torso, a blade in their arm, compared to the relatively tame commercial augging of deus ex, and the setting is so bad that depression or some level of anxiety and stress is just a daily thing all the time that could ramp up the rejection rates.

You can't make a V in the tabletop, depicting someone that capable in any other media at their apex would be like cybernetic Jesus Christ as a Solo, and so many other little factors with how it plays out. I really thought that going all in on the Sandy was fun, but ultimately I decided that the sheer amount of utility Hacking gives you is just unbeatable, especially since combat isn't much of a challenge if you go all-in on Body and know what weapons to grab. Plus you can just get an improvised Sandevistan just by activating Scan mode, although if Scan slows shit down or not seems to be a bit of a crapshoot.
I basically made my V into your typical unkillable sonic-speed brick, so I specc'd Hacking to be how I handle stealth jobs and it really did feel like there wasn't any situation I couldn't handle just by hacking everyone sneaky or just juggernaut through them if I didn't feel like taking my time. Maybe it's different on high difficulties, iirc I was only on Normal, but it was a bit nice to "have my cake and eat it too", since most games I play now only let you really spec into being a brute OR being a leet haxxor, not both.

Nah, cyberpunk tabletop settings do this shit all the time. They're always littered with one in a bazillion super special god tier turbo retards who simply can't fail. Cyberpunk did this, Shadowrun did this, etc.

And usually these characters have the common thread of being one of the original writer's/playtesters/original writer's friends OC character they played together with. Shit, D&D is *filled* with fuckers like these, basically any named spell (Bigby, Mordenkainen's, Tenser's, etc) who are all high level godmode character's was literally a fucking player character from Gygax's table, etc.
