The fucking sprint in this game is genuinely worse than PoE 2. It basically only serves to make you take damage because you accidentally held the button too long when dodging.

Something about Act 2 is draining me a bit. Maybe it's because a couple of the areas I feel like I missed a map when I probably should have one. I forget what it was called, the Gap or the Maw or something, I found a bench and Bellbeast location before I found a map.

I have yet to find a tool that feels good to use. Ive found a fire buff for my sword, 2 kinds of throwing knives, and the spike ball. So far it feels like they are not helping me with difficult fights. The way the TWO DAMAGE TWO DAMAGE TWO DAMAGE bosses are designed, I either get fucking bodied in a single combo that no tool can save me from, or I win so dominantly that I didn't need the tools in the first place. This reminds me a lot of Sekiro and how all of the tools were gimmick shit that nobody used unless they were trying to record showboat webms on their NG+++ runs.

Which, granted, they might be wanting you to play on the edge at 3 hearts. The issue is that since everything does 2 hearts of damage, you go from 3 to 1 and thus you NEVER get optimal healing.
Also you cannot regen the silk fast enough if the boss elects to keep summoning.

For me what worked is bursting down the flying one fast. If you activate the fight and run to the right the flying one spawns there and you can get some hits in before the big boi arrives. Use thread storm and just melt that fucker, the big one is easy solo, sidestep the double swing, go under the leap attack.

New charm system SUPER fucking sucks, you get 3 blues and 3 yellows plus 2 tools. The main problem is memory lockets aren't nearly as cool as a charm slot, if you only use one Crest. The game should have had a crest hot swap like a Style button.

Shards, just like that one thing in Sekiro, make it so eventually you might not be able to use tools. Its dumb.

the biggest problem is that most of the crests suck so you just funnel all your memory things into the few that matter and it stops being a reward.
wanderer sucks because all the lategame bosses don't give you enough time to hit twice outside of stagger windows so you're just playing with a range handicap, beast is ass because it replaces your heal with dogshit, and witch is bad for the same reason even though the needle moveset is probably the best in the game.

Kill the mobs as soon as you can. When they spawn just ignore damaging the big boy and take them out. Wanderer's crest is in the first area and you need the key that costs 500 rosaries.
Just maneuver until you unlock the lift that takes you back down to the village. Once at the lift area, just make your way across the chasm. Then once you've unlocked the door with the key keep going left until eventually you'll be on the other side of a locked door at the very start of the game (right after the tutorial boss)

Is it just me or the combat feels awful? So far I have Reaper and Wanderer Crest in addition to the starter crest.
In Hunter mode the diagonal downwards attack feels awful.
in Wanderer mode the range is a complete joke, can you upgrade it somehow?
Reaper feels like the best one, good range, downwards attack doesn't suck, but you are so damn slow, also it gives FREE soul after focusing for some reason, kinda OP?

This. I'm fine with the change overall. But in HK it was a treat to find a living NPC actually willing to talk. In SS there's NPCs all over the place, I can't remember most of their names and there's already a weird NPC I needed to return to and completely forgot where they were.

The music situation is weird. SS has overall better music. But HK had some absolute all-timer tracks. Green path, city of tears, etc. I haven't heard a single track in SS yet that really blew me away.

The environments are also slightly worse IMO. The level design is much better, but of the first 7-8 zones none of them are that cool. In HK they were very very distinct. Grey rock place. Green jungle. Fog Canyon. Purple crystal place. Dark shithole nest. Darker void place. White palace. City of Tears.

None of the zones in SS have really gripped me yet. Some have been pretty solid, like Hunters or Docks. Greymoor is decent. I'm still waiting to walk into a zone and go 'holy shit woah'

exactly my point, and I feel the same way. Hollow knight was more of a bitch and confusing at the beginning but it felt like exploring a dead civilization. Problem is Silksong hinges on you caring more about Hornet than Pharloom.
In Hollow Knight it's just you, the little guy, and a gigantic dead kingdom. And the best part is that the ending ties extremely well to his character.

I think no place in Silksong has matched City of Tears but a lot of its other places are just as good if not better than the areas in Hollow Knight.
