Yeah that's why I try to buy from indie artists. It kind of sucks because since I'm a fan of the Aquabats I do still try to keep within the theme of old school super heroes and cartoons and more le quriky gag pins. I wish I could travel out of state more to get a wider range of pins since I know and have bought from just about every local artist, but I guess it's also cool 99% of my pins are from local artists as well.

I can tell you enjoy collecting pins but they lack a central theme. How much do you really care about The Jetsons or Ghostbusters? Maybe it's a generational thing since I didn't grow up in the '80s. Some of the pins (the anime fan art ones) don't even look that great, like you were at a convention and just felt compelled to buy some pins from random artists. I have a similar dilemma because I really like RoboCop but the poster I bought is hard to integrate in a room with Miku posters and anime girl figures. I really like the practical effects.

I'm 1991 and I grew up on old cartoons. In general I love animation. I also love the band The Aquabats which are heavily inspired by retro comics popcultre and retro Japanese media. When I was a teen a few of my friends collected pins and we had a little contest over who had and could wear the most. Plus as someone who used to collect pokemon cards I have a soft spot for the atheistic of just having a ton of crap.
Since I'm starting back up I have kind of been just buying whatever catches my eye, but I also am usually stoned off my ass when I go to cons so my self control is usually pretty weak.
