I'm pretty sure gamefreak is more sick of doing pokemon than we are sick of gamefreak doing pokemon.
Nintendo should really put another studio in charge of pokemon and let gamefreak do what they want.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Every project that wasn't named Pokemon other than Drill Dozer from 2000 on has failed. They are rated mixed to bad and they don't sell well. It's more like Game Freak needs Pokemon or they'd be an irrelevant studio without the flow of money coming in to support them on their side projects to just break up the monotony.

Thats all brand recognition, slap the pokemon brand on anything, regardless of the studio and it will sell.
Gamefreak stagnated over 15 years ago and their technology hasn't progressed since. it is true that gamefreak would shut down if nintendo wisened up and gave pokemon to someone else, but at least then they would be free.

The way I see it, gamefreak always does these games so they can try to shake the “pokemon guys” label, only for it to backfire cause they really aren’t all that great

Can’t, nintendo don’t own the pokemon brand. Hell, gamefreak themselves have partial ownership, no way they’d get rid of themselves. Besides while they aren’t good now they were the ones that made pokemon what it is today, and i’m sure they’ve been running with that as much as they could
