not really, just a symptom of the age, let's say you worked hard instead of playing games, you got rich, you have a sexy wife, 3 kids, a nice big house, and so what? birth rates will still keep falling, populations will still keep decreasing, inflation will still keep gnawing away at anything you build up, old power structures are falling apart, causing wars to creep closer and closer, if a bomb drops on your house then what was your entire life's work worth? it gets vaporised in a second, and you're just a number on a collateral damage report, if that, you feel this in your bones, so does everyone, so why even bother? just play some games and jerk off, it doesn't matter, this civilisation is in it's terminal stage, if you live to see the next cycle then it'll be worth building a new world from the ashes, but until then you are just waiting for this decaying society to breathe it's last

It's only a waste if you're not having fun. Take me for example, I put 6.5k hours into TF2 and can count the amount of times I've had fun with it on one hand, so yes it was a waste of time.

No, I don't play Soldier, I don't play Demo, I don't have friends who main Soldier or Demo for me to pocket, and I don't want to play Pyro to deal with the endless explosives spam so most matches I'm just stuck in spawn doing dance taunts or browsing the market while everyone else gets to play. It's a miserable experience, but it's mine.

I wish I was joking, but there's just nothing I can do to deal with the explosives spam aside from going full retard mode and joining them or subjecting myself to the misery of playing Pyro, neither of which I want to do.

That's me with Dota2 and LoL.

I regret 0 hours spent on Runescape and Lineage 2 because I actually got some great memories and friends out of the thousands of hours spent grinding MMOs.
I regret every single second spent queuing in LoL and Dota2 because instead of making friends I lost friends and instead of happy memories I just have angry memories. I tried playing Deadlock recently and I got this visceral disgust reaction when I realized I was still playing Dota2 and the exact same things that used to happen back then with my teammates, were now happening again.

Nothing is a true waste of time because life has no true goal that you need to work into with a time limit to being with. Sure some people have goals, but those goals are set by themselves in a pursuit of hapiness, if having no goal and just playing games is your definition of hapiness then go for it.

I've probably spent a similar amount of time browsing 4chan and other social media sites and I feel the exact same way. The times where I was genuinely enjoying myself are one in a million. It's amazing how we convince ourselves to waste so much of our time on bullshit that doesn't make us happier.
