Something something "Muh auditions".
Has anyone else actually auditioned for Kiryu's english voice, or is Yea just lying his ass off?

Either he had some sort of inside connection with Sega, or he really did audition and get the role. Either way, it's not a good look. The former edges on nepotism and the latter means Sega didn't care about quality.

Because he's a shit voice actor. Youtubers have no place pretending to be voice actors.

Stage actors>shit>rotten shit>other voice actors>childish sag aftra fags>youtubers

It has to be the former. The rest of the English VA cast, while the entire dub is of mediocre quality, blow Yong out of the water. It isn't even close.

Because that's what the director wanted. Do you people know how acting works?

Actors audition, follow the directions the director gives them, and the best performance gets the role.

More importantly, how come they never brought him back?

I thought Ichiban's VA was pretty good. Hearing the two side by side was like polar opposites, and I fucking lost it.

>>719985497
Didn't they get him again for the 0 dub? If/when a 3 remake happens they'll probably get the retard back again.

Yong Yea is a great actor and he earned the role. I was also in a Pixar movie.

if you play a single yakuza game with the dub you should be put into conservatorship. you are legitimately too stupid to feed yourself.

I am the furthest from a sub purist but you seriously have problems if you play Yakuza with English voices.

Yakuza 1 is the best game in the series, and part of the reason is because of the dub. I haven't played any of the newer dubs.

Have you ever thought about the nuances of language, like how an monolingual anglophone weeb might insist that subs are always better than dubs despite not having any foundational knowledge of the language to actually make an assessment if one dub is objectively better than the other?

I ask because the same holds true when the roles are reversed. A mono-speaking Japanese national without foundational knowledge of the English language will similarly lack the background to make an objective assessment on if an English dub is well performed or not. This lack of knowledge is exactly how dogshit localizers are able to work in the industry for so long before finally facing any action against them. This lack of knowledge can similarly be attributed to many other facets of game development (Like the homogenization of character designs of other ethnicities you see all over in western games, because the team of dumb fuck white people can only think to hire consultancy groups run by more white people instead of consulting any group of shared cultural heritage to check if black guy with killmonger cut #82312534 is anything but uninspired)

But they don't, Ichi not knowing English is a plot point when he arrives. And then somehow he just talks to the locals because who gives a shit about making sense I guess

I played the entirety of Yakuza with the original japanese VA, but once it started to shift to Like a Dragon/Ichiban I switched to english voice actors, I'm not going to willingly put myself through that because nobody on screen says anything worth reading subtitles for.
