Have you played the BBI randomizer? It's really fun. It even lets you lower the starting level to manageable so you can just start BBI right away from a new game and actually do damage to the enemies.

The only things I've heard about DD2 was that it had wokeshit, and the character creation system let's you make BBWs.

i still remember the feeling of my heart sinking into my stomach when I realized that the tiny area i had explored was the entire game. I was so prepared for this to be the greatest video game ever made when i first played it. was beyond hyped the first time i fought that tutorial chimera then got out into the world and thought i would be exploring and adventuring with my own custom companion. going around at night int he dark with lanterns. in my mind i imagines myself travelling all over a big world getting into epic fights and stopping at inns after fighting my way through the darkness to wait out the dangerous nights and tending to my pawn and our abilities and stuff

then it all came crashing down as i realized that there was nothing to do beyond backtracking around what I essentially thought was the tutorial area. I kept coping and thinking there must be more that I missed somewhere, some are i haven't explored yet

I dont think any videogame has ever put me through such a brutal rollercoaster of feelings

Yeah, but highly overrated. The base game is really flawed and never got the fixes it needed, while BBI is just a single dungeon with different enemy placements for a second run through. Doesn't even include a lot of enemy types in it like the Hydras or Beholders.

DD2 was so bad that it people don't even want to post threads about the first game, people would rather forget this series exists. I can't remember the last time I saw posts about memorable quotes from the first game at all, that is how bad the second game tainted the franchise.

2 is good but disappointing. It omits some vocations and makes balance changes to some that are baffling. For example warrior had some of its skills made far less useful, while others like Strider was split into 2 different vocations with the dagger focused one being clearly better it focusing further on what made Strider such a good vocation makes arguably better than its predecessor lol

It also lacks monster variety compared to the first and the armor system gives you far less freedom for fashion. That said the combat is still extremely satisfying and it puts more a focus on gravity.

The first game was a decent adventure. I'd hardly call it bad. It laid a solid foundation for future games to work on. The second game, with no exaggeration, absolutely destroyed any potential this franchise could have had.
I'm not sure if the MMO was any good.

I used to do fresh runs and go straight there, but admittedly if you don't have a good weapon or know where to find one, enemy defense can make the place virtually impossible

You find a good weapon and keep upgrading it.
First part can be done with an average weapon or a level 1 cursed weapon if you're lucky.
Second part can be done with a dragonforged level 1 weapon
Third part can be done with a dragonforged level 2 weapon
The hardest one to get is actually the second part. The 3rd one is almost free since the merchant there will sell level 2 weapons if you do a sidequest.

The way damage calculation works in the game is retarded, so the best way to do BBI is to finish the game first and farm the offline UR dragon, it will be slow at first but eventually you start power leveling through it while also automatically farming weapons that do holy damage for all your vocations/companions (and most shit is vulnerable to it in bbi) and dragonforging your gear, then when you feel you have enough stats/weapons you can go.

You can dragonforge 2 more times in BBI, silver and gold. Base game dragon weapons can clear up to the second part. Of course some corpse eater mini boss enemies are meant to be avoided unless you really know what you're doing...

It was exactly as unfinished as the first one, but without the grindan dungeon dlc.
It also had a worse story, and much more glitches that would cause crashing. Blame RE engine, dd2 was a testbed for whether capcom could use said engine for monster hunter wilds.

2 would be an amazing game if it didn't have to be strapped to capcom and their usual practices. I'd still say it's worth a shot cause assembling your own adventuring party and just walking out into the world, picking a direction and leaving a trail of dead monsters everywhere you go is just plain fun

Yes. I actually much prefer the original game to the expansion as a "one and done" gameplay experience and story, but Bitterblack Island is a nice "endless game" and grind to play for a while. The added gear and upgrades are really cool too.

It's honestly one of the best games ever made. If it somehow had real co-op it would be THE best. Oddly enough, even though I feel this way, I have almost zero desire of ever playing it again.
