imo Phantasmagoria 1 is better. The story is more interesting and straightforward with a really nice finale, the characters are more fun and the way the "map" works is better. But it's also really goofy, really has that 90s cheesy B tier horror TV show style to it, doesn't really have many puzzles nor are they difficult and there's a lot of just walking since you actually move your character everyone instead of jumping from scene to scene like in the 2nd one.
