Now that silksong is out of the game, who are the top contenders for GOTY?

silksong is a good game but winning goty over e33 or even death stranding 2 is ridiculous. both of those games have way better presentation than silksong

Hard disagree. Silksong was great, but it plays it too safe mechanically, just more Hollow Knight with a faster pace. Expedition 33 actually took some risks with its worldbuilding and combat. If anything, DS2 deserves more credit-Kojima went full weird again, but it somehow worked. Presentation, music, storytelling? Nothing else this year even touches it.

you'd have to be a retard to think its gonna be anything other than e33, whether you like the game or not

Silksong and GTA6 were the only games that could stop E33 from winning GOTY.

Expedition 33 will win goty. Silksong will win like best indie or something. The only others games that will be even mentioned at all might be kcd2, ghost of yotei, silent hill f (these 2 get women protagonist bonus from the press) and probably 1 or 2 more indie games.

It'll be between Silksong, Exp33 and Death Stranding 2. I guess give it to Exp33. Would be nice for a turn based rpg to win. Though I personally did not like it and barely made it out of the tutorial myself.
Silksong has the hype behind it and outside of the Chinese doing their usual thing (perhaps a bit justified this time around) it's still at 92% positive. Though of the 3 it's the only one I'm not sure will even be nominated since journos are prolly butthurt they didn't get their usual special treatment.
DS2 is getting nominated because Geoff wants to sleep with Kojimbo. If it wins or not depends on how horny Geoff is the night they're handling the decision.

Ive been playing the act 2 areas for 6 hours straight and its genuinely exhausting. A FUCKTON of big secrets/hidden shit, CONSTANT attrition and painful hazards. And dont get me started on the sinners' path (harder alt route) to reach the citadel which i did yesterday...

silksong cannot win goty because of a simple reason : Total journo death.

Its not simply the lack of coverage. Journos have been incredibly behind and mostly just making shallow content, tbey cant make full reviews or profit from clicks, and theyre falling behind the general playerbase. Its a game of unironically EXTREME attritition past the very early game

Just look at act 2 areas
>areas leading up to it are a pain in the ass
>absolutely gigantic with a fuckton of hidden secrets and shit
>attrition up the ass, taking 2 hits of damage is the norm, white palace tier platforming except with double damage in the 30% mark of the game
>harder bosses by no small margin
>practically need to go around gathering side shit and gearing up a little if you dont want to get cancer
You cannot rush through this for an article, you cannot write shit in time for clicks, you cant make guides when theyre most needed, and theres no way in hell that 90% of journos will even play about 50% of the games' content, and i say this because ive seen how these fag journos go through games in person

Both are frontrunners but I haven't played either so they won't be my GOTY (same with Bananza because I don't have a S2). So far this year I haven't played a game I'd give a 9/10 or better but there's a few I'd consider 8/10 or so:

>TMNT Tactical Takedown
>FF City of the Wolves
>THPS3+4
Most upcoming games this year are looking to be in the 7-8/10 range as well, which is still good but I don't have a clear frontrunner (I was thinking it'd be Shinobi AoV but it ended up being really shallow, fun to hit credits but a 7/10 at the end of the day).

Gameplay is an underappreciated strength of DS. It makes "just walking" across barren landscapes fun and engaging. When you're new every footstep over every rock is a challenge.

No one who has played Death Stranding 2 actually think it's a GOTY contender unless they're retarded. I feel like it has to be a meme at this point. The game wasn't even good or bad, it was just forgettable.
