GDQ started sucking when they stated becoming more corporatized and trying for mass appeal (roughly around the time Werster got banned). Before that, it was just a bunch of hobbyists hanging out and having fun.
Individual streamers I used to enjoy have gotten that way too.

These speedrun GDQ events should have stayed this size. Once the events got too big and we started to see how loony all these autists really were it lost all its appeal for me. The last peak was the Chibi incident due to the humor it caused but even by then these events already ran their course for me. I don't know how the hell you guys have stuck around the past decade or more for these cringe faggot events.

They all feel a lot of anger about their lives because they got bullied in school and can't understand why they can never live up to society's expectations, so the realization that they might not have the proper gender is a smoking gun to them that they now think the cause of their suffering was the box they were put into.

That's how coming out as trans turns into something political instead of just a personal freedom. It's absolutely the sponsors behind everything. Brands are cautious as fuck with anything that involves internet users. They know these are normal people who aren't careful about how they build their media persona. They could say something controversial outside the event that might make the brand look bad. That's why everything is so sterilized and why people get banned for the tamest of social media posts. I think it's why the trans stuff took over so quickly too. Introducing trannies to a community is like spraying an extra strength can of Raid on everything that might upset the sponsors. Trannies naturally co-opt and push anyone with even a little bit of defiance in them out of the space. I think sponsors push for including them for this reason.
