It's been one hell of a ride, my own personal GOTY. I'm putting off what are clearly the final sections to fuck around with cooking (whose bright idea was it hiding the oven and most cooking recipes behind level 10 cooking, which is pretty extravagant?)

I went crazy fishing and reached level 10 spamming their meat in frying pans instead of just trashing the excess.
I love how in depth cooking is, making all kinds of pies, sandwiches, burgers and it's all stuff you don't really need since soup is a thing.

I feel like the level up system really has to be reworked. My friend used ranged weapons for the entirety of the game and didnt make it anywhere near maximum even after the final boss fight. Nobody wants to just sit there and cook and cook and cook and cook just to bake some potatoes. Dont get me started on stealth.

I have a question, how come when Manse is talking about Cahn being not the real Cahn he doesn't just outright say the name? I mean sure the reasoning could be everyone in Labs was on the same page but what if they got a new guy and they don't know?

It's not necessary. Not only do you only get meh abilities at 20, I haven't touched the vanilla settings and I'm above 10 on everything but first aid. Hell, for sprinting I'm almost 20.

To be fair, the skills are not equally balanced. Some you will have to grind to max them out even with 3x EXP gain and the smart trait, others a Defense Analyst will have maxed them out in no time.

I have a personal teleport and a base filled with chests that don't waddle in the way. And a teleport network to good resource points.
You can also bring a battery and a teleport pad with you, so you can always move it as you progress and keep backtracking to a minimum.

The game does not portray this information very well. You have to have prior knowledge or look at a wiki (if you do this to a brand new game you are gay) the buffs are this massive. Easy mistake to make.

the red part of botanical is heavily implied to be taking place in the future and there's a log from Riggs which mentions Manse having given people instructions
also the game isn't finished yet, Cold Fusion just gave somewhat of an "ending", but they've said more major updates just like all the others will continue to come out

How the fuck do I get into Cloud Reactor? Do I need the level 6 hacker first, or do I just need to find another way in that isn't the direct front, at any altitude? I even swam in the nuke-juice pool underneath to see if that was it, but no dice.

you only need lv6 hacker for the last one. you just have to keep going into the bowels of the place, lower and lower. it will get silly because there's so many 'reactor entrance' signs leading to it and the further and deeper you go you just run into more and more mistagogues and jotuns. take it slow though as there's a million doors you can unlock and especially don't forget to unlock the one near the end which is a huge shortcut to get back in if you don't want to haul any transauranic alloy with you the whole way down.

I love the original Half life and hate survival games, will I enjoy this?

I would try to play it coop but would probably end up solo is that worth it?

Next area, Cascade Labs, is bigger and holds multiple floors.
As for snipers, you just have to sneak behind them and bonk them.

Once you get a riot shield you can block their bullets. Until then, sneak around them. Or build tall wooden barricades and they can't shoot through them.

My first base was a shitty little camp inside the security office break room adjacent to the Cafeteria.
My second base was in that much larger shuttered security office break room between the office and manufacturing floors. Loved the shutters.
My third base, which I spent 2 hours last night moving to, is in power services. Haven't had the opportunity to decorate just yet, but I've got some plans: gonna visit the furniture store, flathill, and maybe mull over building an aquarium and try to figure out where I want to keep the Leyak.
