Nothing soulless about a flash cart. If anything, I'd say flash carts are the most soulful way to play, even more so than official cartridges. The only thing more soul than that is flashing your own roms onto existing cartridges.

Super Mario Bros is awesome. If you don't think so, you weren't stuck with Smurts and Pitfall on Atari for years before you got an NES, so you have no frame of reference to judge just how much better and more fun it was.
