>Hunting is useless
>Crafting is useless
>Open world is one giant visual show with barely any changes between the areas
>Cultists are too dumb to kill you but smart enough to tranquilize you 12 times or so
>Guns are lacking, barely any gimmicky weapons
>Takedowns were heavily nerfed
>AI is too dumb and no, it wasn't like this in 3 & 4
The only saving grace for this game is the christian larp which is perfect if you're the type of person who puts "God 1st" in his bio while fantasizing about beheading a certain group of people for looking different.

It doesn't serve any purpose, the game could spawn you in each outpost and the experience would stay the same. Compare that to Far Cry 3 where basic progression required you to explore and find a certain animal to hunt. And I get how it's tedious and busywork especially the radio towers but 5 went on the opposite direction and basically shaved off all the necessities for having an open world.

An instance or two would be fine but holy shit this is accurate. Imagine letting a prisoner escape a dozen times when he's actively dismantling your entire operation by himself. It was definitely the writers shoehorning the story and interactions with the regional bosses because they couldn't come up with anything else

Its more a concession that open world oriented missions stink. You can't deliver specific story beats in an open environment, not well anyway. So for certain missions to even contextually make sense, and funnel you through a relatively linear area they either A. GET BACK TO THE MISSION AREA(sucks) or B. Kidnap you and force you through a linear scenario(also sucks)

It's so fucking boring, holy shit. Wild animals and cultists appearing out of nowhere every 20 seconds until you inevitably "liberate" the region which results in the entire map being devoid of any combat, companions are a stupid fucking idea, the entire map is just the same copypasted trees and roads, 3/4 of the side content is just fetch quests, 20 hours of cutscenes
but you can skip them which makes this the best ubi far cry game to date

Far Cry 2 was pretty fucking awful. There's barely any sense of progress due to how repetitive the main missions are
>go to warlord
>get mission
>merc buddy calls in with an additional objective
>do merc buddy's objective
>merc buddy now needs help
>help merc buddy
>do warlord's mission
>repeat over and over again until some plot point happens, usually Jackal showing up to monologue a bit before fucking off and then repeat some more
I legitimately thought I was just doing randomized side quests when I first played the game just because of how they were designed.
Also the game just feels completely lifeless compared to later games in the series. There's no civilians wandering around the maps, just random goons with guns who'll shoot you on sight if you're not in the ceasefire areas. Wildlife in the game can't really be interacted with. FC3 was a massive improvement over FC2 in that it actually felt like a living breathing world with locals trying to fight pirates and hostile wildlife that would fuck your shit up. There was also a lot more variety in missions as well.

I've played since the first came out, and Far Cry 3 peaked for me. I could see where the brand/franchise was going after that and it was just a repeat of Far Cry 3 since then verbatim.
>Warlord does thing
>Free the locals
>Somehow you are a super-human super-soldier but no explanation to why
MAYBE if they tied the first game in with the human experiments to make super-soldier-mutants maybe it would all make sense and tie together. But Far Cry Primal really showed they abandoned the original concept and it's just unlock the tower/regions and fight the warlord.

I agree, and maybe even an expansion DLC. I felt like there was potential to circle back around to the first game. With the mystery of the plants and the super-warriors, the secret Chinese fortress underground (which I thought was pretty wild). The secret Japanese research bases, and potentially even the mercs/drug operations. It had almost a tinge of an Indian Jones vibe to it too. Far Cry 3 had SO much story telling potential to me. It all kinda fit in kinda perfectly, especially the badies you had to fight which were drugged up pirates and mercs. I replayed Far Cry 3 earlier in the year and it was still very solid but it does need some fixes and tweaking. I also like that it was challenging at points, and required you to think a little and your perks didn't just make you super OP either.

FC2 is a good base that has its problems. I love the very grounded, somewhat cynical tone it has but the enemy outposts respawn too quickly and it would have been so much better with hostile wildlife that attack either nearby NPCs or the player. I like FC4 the most as a middle ground between 3’s wackier ideas and story beats but with difficulty closer to FC2’s, since enemy outposts can also respawn but at a slower rate.

It's the only Far Cry I actually enjoyed but that may be due to playing co-op with a friend.
Doing a playthrough where we specifically chose the highest difficulty we could for new game and agreed to never level up anything that increases health made it kinda fun, I imagine if we just played on normal difficulty it'd be so easy it'd be boring but being made out of paper made for some funny bits.

Just wish the co-op didn't force you to be in a rather close proximity, and really really wish the progress was synced between the players because it's really fucking retarded how weapons are unlocked with game progression except any mission you do in other person's game doesn't carry over.
Meaning that, unless you want to replay the same things twice in a row to make your progression even, one person in your co-op playthrough will have basically no weapons to choose from.

The game was just ok and honestly as far as Far Cry games go the world wasn't that fun to explore. The dinky run down Caribbean shithole in 6 was more fun.
The soundtrack and the fact that the villain was actually right is what makes 5 notable. I haven't played it since it came out but I still listen to the soundtrack fairly regularly, that shit is just so good.

You didn't play the game. Enemies continue to spawn in areas you've cleared. I'd argue that's actually one of the downfalls of the game. There's times I'd like to just kick back and fish because FC5 fishing is genuinely pretty fun but just as I cast my line out some cultist fuckers just have to come along in one vehicle or another and ruin it.

The forced kidnapping is mega gay as others have stated, but I played 5, then 3, then 4 in the span of one year and while 3 lived up to the hype, I honestly thought 4 was way more half-baked compared to 5. Characters show up and then die ten minutes later and the game acted like I’m supposed to feel some type of way about it, at least in 5 by the time you kill off Sneed Family members you have an understanding of who they are and why you should kill them. I remember them and what their fucking problem is, unlike 4 that had…a guy who tortured people and 95% of his lines were about his daughter because aren’t you shocked yet this evil psychopath is also a family man, the arena hostess I have no idea why you even went to kill, and some bitch who tried to sleep with you because Ubisoft had to hit their far cry topless female characters quota. The radio was abysmal compared to 5 as well.

But I have, though. Like a week ago.
It's either an encounter every 50 meters or completely nothing at all in this game. That almost every single open world activity counts towards the liberation meter makes this even worse. Despawning the entire cult is literally unavoidable and before that you'll be bored out of your mind by the same trucks and planes trying to gun you down.
Just like, tone it down brah. Put it in the settings dog, it's probably just a number in the config file.
