GTA is going to fulfill the promise CP2077 made. Every character and npc will be more believable and relatable, the story will be Hollywood caliber, the 'balance' (for lack of magical powers and weapons) will be tight, the world will be better laid out.

Was there any legit AAAA game yet? There were games that could have scratched the surface but ended up fumbling the bag somehow. And there were some lame ass and boring games that marketers called AAAA despite being downgrades from similar earlier games. I have never seen a game worth calling AAAA in terms of sheer scope, budget spectacle and size. Honestly though we might actually have many AAAA games: Games with overinflated budgets that try waaayyy to hard to be movies and are so massive everything is lukewarm at best with nothing standing out.
Anonymous No.720018565
They’re scared of both doing well for different reasons. On one hand if GTA6 does well then they’ll have to up the bar substantially to be anywhere close to its level, and if their competing project flops then both the development studio and publisher risk shutting down or taking a major hit. On the other hand, the success of Silksong also terrifies them since it’s also proof that you don’t need to invest hundreds of millions to make a hit game, all the hours of market research and hundreds of employees you have wont guarantee your focus-tested project succeeds anymore.

Dipshits again prove they fail to understand what the letter system is about. It stems from credit worthiness of an idea, and the likelihood of a return on investment for those who invest their money into the project.

The Ubisoft game that they themselves called a AAAA game, was entirely due to it being an embezzlement scam being pulled over on the Singaporean government. Grand Theft Auto 6 is not a AAAAA game, nor could it even be considered a "AAAA" game. In fact the more money that has been thrown at it the higher the chance it has of being downgraded from "AAA" (A sure thing to return on investment) to "AA" (a high chance to give a great return, but there are better options)

Concord is a good example of why just throwing money at a project is not a recipe for success.

I just want to see GTA6 fail miserably. I don't care about the franchise, it's not for political reasons. I just straight up want to watch the industry burn for a little bit. Imagine all that time and money they've sunk into it, all the controversy, all the expectations. And then the game sells like a Concord. People might literally throw themselves off buildings. It would be chaos and the resulting fire would be beautiful to watch burn.

I know the chances of it being a Concord are low, obviously. But if it sells like a mid tier game, it still wont be enough to recoup the money they spent making it and it still might kill Rockstar. That would be fine, too. I just want to watch things that are "too big to fail" collapse to the ground and burst into flames.

Why do journos write these shitty articles? to shill two games simultaneously? GTA 6 already looks unimpressive from the trailers and promotional shots by the way. It was held back my consoles, which is what it's first releasing on.

Developers aren't really pushing games to their full potential because of setbacks on consoles to begin with. It already looks more unimpressive than i thought than a new GTA generation leap should be. Wait for a consolefag to call me out on that statement of being a 'fake gamer' caring about graphics over gameplay, whilst they always prop Rockstar up on a pedestal for the same thing. Despite having the biggest budget in the industry it already looks dated. And that budget goes into GTA online too so don't forget that's not a fully optimized dev development, it's got bloat attached to it.

I remember there was a thread where some retard was going nuts over the fact that a drink had bubbles in it and went apeshit when i pointed out how utterly useless it was. He was probably a shill now that i think about it. But the point of it being that graphics get the priority over all the other shit and all thats left are scraps. Online will be the cash cow that they will release in an absolute shit state and then build it up over the course of years and the piggies will give them all the money they can, meanwhile the single player will be shitty and hollow and focus on the same kind of narrative shit that RDR2 did. Which ended up being painfully mediocre best but is loved by midwits that had it as their first game that wasn’t tendy, CoD, or mobile shit.

With all the censorship bullshit going on though, shit could be anything but ordinary a year from now. GTA has always been on those freak bitches' radar after all. It's not out of disbelief that they could actually get it removed/banned from physical retail stores at least. These types were very effective at bullying big box stores into banning games in the tipper gore era, and corpos have only gotten more cowardly since then.

Would've had more appeal back in its time where open world was barely even a thing, featuring decently-sized maps with mostly empty prefab buildings as driving and shooting make up much of these games. Nonetheless there's still a fair amount of mission variety and all follow the same idea as criminal sandboxes and storylines where you go starting your way from the bottom and getting to the top, due to the protagonist's circumstances - just in different flavors and also with licensed music of the era to make it a bit more convincing. As far as the 3D games go, if you've played one then you've played them all, just pick a GTA game with a theme you like the most and quit while you're ahead.

There are more people buying games than ever before. It is a colossal industry and the major publishers were making money hand over fist even at $60 just a couple years ago.
They have post-launch content such as DLC, season passes, and cosmetics which keep the cash flowing long after the initial investment.
Additionally, in the current market games are the same price whether you buy them physical or digital. Despite having no costs associated with production, shipping, or retailer deals, digital games are still the same price.

GTA Online is still making Rockstar money 12 years after they made the damn thing.
They could unironically sell GTAVI for 20 bucks and still turn a profit on initial sales alone... and then they have the next 10+ years of Online money.

GTA 6 will be such an unbelievable disappointment.
Not because it'll be a horrible game. It'll be alright. A GTA 5 2.0.
We saw what happened with Cyberpunk. People expect these open world city games to be some sort of life simulators and they get sorely disappointed when they realize the final product is still a damn video game with no depth to it. No enterable buildings. No interactability. Just driving around and shooting people. This time in mini Florida instead of LA.

if you played gta 2 as a kid, you had a blast of your lifetime, at least back then.
when GTA 3 released, it was mindblowing, seeing your character suddenly 3rd person, instead of top down was revolutionary, back then.
just a year later, you got another 3d gta, but not in a modern concrete jungle but a flashy neon 70ies with all the cool shit and listening to phil collins. absolute banger.
another 2 years down the road, you suddenly got a nigger gta, but in the good way, you could sometimes relate to the PC, sometimes to his entourage but overall, it was the culmination of knowledge the devs have gathered over the time.

to this day, people argue that GTA:SA is one of the best, which ultimately comes down to preference.

GTA4, which came 4 years after SA, was hyped up because it was a new console generation, more detailed, you got a physics engine built in and tried a more gritty take on GTA. It was one of the last good GTAs.

Never played the spinoffs like Lost&Damned, Ballad of gay tony or chinatown wars but if you compare 4 to 5 you realize that 5 started to regress in comparsion.
Also changed focus from singleplayer sandbox crime racer/shooter to online tps.

So yeah, 2-4 is worth it, 5 is up to you.

The situation with GTA VI is nowhere near comparable with the release of Cyberpunk, the problem with CP77 is that CD Projekt outright lied, made shit up, promised things that weren't even worked on, posted bullshots and kept the charade going until the last moment. The game also released in a deplorable state, the console versions were borderline unplayable and even if you had a beefy PC it was still a buggy and unstable mess.
One thing that is certain is that GTA VI will be extremely polished, another thing in its favor is that people more or less know what to expect from Rockstar/GTA games and they don't expect Skyrim level of interactivity, they primarily want a huge map and if you can't enter every building it doesn't matter as long as you can enter the relevant ones. Another thing is that R* doesn't do bullshots, the trailers are running in engine, what you see is what you get. I still think it will a disappointment because of diminishing returns, realistically how do you one up GTA V or RDR2? It fundamentally won't be a new and revolutionary experience the way these games were.
