Except that Dark Souls II was the beginning of rollslop (i.e. a downgrade for the series) and Silksong basically picks up where Hollow Knight left off.

nah, when it comes to stuff like combat and bosses hollow knight is to silksong what DS1 was to DS3. the bosses especially are much more fun to fight against
