For example the pilgrim mobs at the start, bodies just taken over by something when you first meet them.
The little grunts suggest they are no longer in control, are surprised at what their bodies are doing, a bit scared but sort of along for the ride.
Except the vomiting guy, he really doesn't like vomiting up moss balls.
It's fucking perfect.

It comes close, but they really had lightning in a bottle with Hollow Knight, a shame it couldn't live up to the name.

Kinda mixed, I see what they were going for and respect their attempt to experiment. Even the "heal midair" while seemingly "better" than HK heal, can still end up with you getting baited in certain fights.

In hollow knight if you take 4 hits down to 1 hp and heal for 2, you now die in 3 hits. In silksong if you take 2 hits down to 1 hp and heal for 3, you now die in 2 hits. Getting hit again and healing for another 3 finally puts you back above 2 hits from death.

This is a very good point, I couldn't really articulate it before because it was more of a gut feeling but this is the biggest issue with not just the heals, but a lot of their attempts at recreating their ingame mechanics.
