I can't tell if I'm taking the intended path or sequence breaking.

I liked it for the most part. I genuinely loved the way it toyed with my expectations like with the SA-X using the X-ray visor and Crocomire. Some sequences had a little too much trial and error like the SA-X chase in ARC and the final area though the latter was really generous with checkpoints so it wasn't frustrating. Also getting to see an SA-X going up an elevator made me feel things i didn't know i could feel.

I do wish the Mother Brain X tease went somewhere though.

Yeah, it's easy to write the elevator going down off as another point-of-no-return moment which makes the SA-X appearance that much more impactful. It's really good stuff.

shoulda had more playtesters
if they had kept the general vibes while toning down some of the more trial and error sections it coulda been good but as it stands

I decided to dip my toes into Metroid romhacks recently starting with X-Fusion. I really liked it despite it clearly made for players more experienced than me but now I'm looking for more. On a whim I played Super Junkoid (beat it) and Vitality (I want to say I'm about 75% done) and had a good time with both though I also didn't expect them to lean on horror elements. Any other cool hacks out there? I'd love to give your favorites a playthrough.

this, having to trial an error the long-ass death animations led to me just making savestates at the save stations solely to skip it. 70 damage fucking enemies at the start is insane, I don't think even fusion had this level of bullshit.

He probably had something planned but he ran out of rom space. That's why the ending is just a cutscene.

I only found the mother brain thing on the 2nd playthrough, I somehow sequence broke it in my first one (don't ask me how, I don't remember)
I also skipped spore spawn and the associated item, I didn't try to shinespark in the empty space

I'm gonna clear my schedule and play it tomorrow, super excited. Does it have visual novel style cutscenes like Fusion? That's what got my intrigued in the first place years ago.

What bothers me the most about this romhack is that Serris's death scream isn't the same as it is in Fusion.

It's alright. The ending gauntlet kinda fucking sucked. Also I wouldn't have found spike breaker without a guide. I actually died there before but I wrote it off as a joke and just infinite bomb jumped back the next time I got there.

It is the greatest super metroid hack to date. I can't believe it happened in the same year we're getting prime 4, takes me back to prime and fusion release era.
I remember seeing forum posts about this game in 2016, thinking "that'd be neat", but it was beyond neat, it was fucking amazing. Incredible room design, fucking with what you know about fusion (and super), cool new bosses, and a metric fuckton of content and sequence breaks, made by a metroid expert FOR metroid experts.
