You don't actually need to leave the area they spawn in, you just need to get far enough away to trigger more to spawn in.
You can get them all below or above, it doesn't matter. They endlessly spawn.

Phantom (whos boss fight is at the end of the sinners path) is a very fun boss fight, I loved it.
You should probably do both, but I recommend the sinners path route

Honestly I struggled way less with that delivery than I thought I would. Hornet's dash makes running by enemies way easier than in Hollow Knight, and I had so much practice from the run backs to the Final Judge that the hardest part of the run ended up being a breeze.

Or you can just actually play the fight. Hit her when she's calling the bells and dodge up when she melees. It's just a rehash of the previous two phases with less attack variety. The fight is incredibly well telegraphed and when you get hit it's always your fault
