Be honest with yourselves: if Pokémon released today as a brand-new IP, nobody would care, the gameplay hasn’t evolved since the 90s—catch, grind, spam the same four moves. The graphics look like a mobile game from 2012. The fanbase eats up the same recycled monsters and calls it “innovation”, every gen is just 8 new Pikachu clones and slightly different grass patches yet you people line up to buy the same $60 re-skinned garbage.

Pokémon isn’t good. It never was. You’re just addicted to your childhood.

Pokemon got millions when they were young and turned them into zombie customers who buy every game in hopes of reliving a fraction of that childhood magic.

Pokemon was good for the first handful of iterations.
But as gaming continued to evolve, and the mainline games stagnated, over time the potential gap has grown wider and wider.
We're at the point now that they are releasing Wii-level games in 2025. It's absolutely unreal that a franchise that makes this money does so little to earn it.

I've posted about this a few times and of course /v/ is full of Nintendo Adults who refuse to acknowledge this, but Pokemon is the franchise with the biggest potential gap in gaming. And the mentality of losers like this:

He doesn't care, and he's going to buy it anyway. $80 for a game that could have been released on the Wii, where at least its level of graphical fidelity, animation quality and lack of features and quality of life changes would make sense.

The suits know they can spend the minimum, have their workers put in the minimum, and still sell gangbusters... and it's all thanks to the fans, a collection of actual drooling children and a bunch of Nintendo Adults who lose their fucking minds at anything Pokemon.
All you can do is accept that it's never going to live up to its potential and drop it.

Nah, as someone deep into monster tamers in general it's hard to find something better than pokemon. Even after dexit it still has the most monsters without using an absurd amount of recolors, a simple yet deep combat system with more type variables than most games with dual types making that much, much larger. Even on top of that you have hidden mechanics like move combos. What's surprising too is that most monster tamers now are only just dabbling in abilities, something pokemon had since 2002 so they're well ahead of the curve in that regard. When it comes to how abilities are used in each games pokemon comes out on top too given say, Digimon or SMT just use them for regular stat boosts like 20% to fire moves and so on where pokemon started out with things like
>activates weather when sent out
>prevents critical hits
>absorption moves damage the enemy instead
>if the opponent inflicts a status effect inflict it on them

As much as people want to complain about the graphics, which obviously don't make the game and are ultimately the least important part, as a game there's nothing out there that's better than it. Keep in mind what I'm saying is just the tip of the iceberg for even the worst pokemon game
