I have no problem with the double damage if the boss is decently designed and easy to dodge like the transport bell critter.
but if the boss is jank as fuck and the walk back to it is unreasonable then I can see myself installing that mod for those parts too.
There are certainly many incompetantly designed moments in this game. that fucking map NPC got me killed by cluttering up the screen so I couldn't see.

-Compass because being able to see yourself on a map is not a "buff" it's a basic fundamental.
-Magnet because the shitty Unity Box2D physics on the beads are horrible design.

Shitposting aside, the game IS difficult, certainly more difficult than the original Hollow Knight. If you're average Joe Normal looking to have fun with a relaxing game after 10 hours of wagecucking, Silksong can definitely be hectic and unforgiving if you're new to the genre. Hornet's playstyle is also quite a bit different from the Knight's so it took me quite a while to get good even though I have like 80h in the first game.

It's really not though. I've been sitting at full shards my entire playthrough. You only really need tools for bosses, it's better to farm thread on regular enemies 90% of the time rather than use tools, making them useless.

this shit is a slippery slope, modfags will first disable double damage, then they'll give themselves teleports, then they'll remove currency restrictions removing all strategy and challenge from the game gradually with each slip
now there's no need to get god at platforming really and avoid dropping masks before bosses
now there's no need to explore and get upgrades really because all the bosses are trivial with the mods

All they needed to do was remove contact damage when the boss is down (why is that even a thing) and also lower normal contact damage to 1 mask damage. This doesn't lower the inherent difficulty of bosses, it just removes a layer of obnoxiousness from the game.

it's an antiquated mechanic in the age of actual attacks with hitboxes.

I beat the game and I could understand the bitching about two damage attacks (why the fuck do regular mobs have this and why the fuck is there a full ass animation for it instead of just flat removal of health?) but how the fuck do you get lost on a map. Buy the damn compass. If you're deep into an area where you haven't sat yet then just save/quit and go back to the last bench and it'll fill it out and you can see where you can go in the next area.

No problem with doing this if a game has bad design elements that shouldn't be there.
With Sekiro you can remove the Kanji that appears over your head for perilous attacks and focus on the enemies attack animations instead.
with DMC5 you can remove V, the shitty limitations, never have to waste time arm shopping and add way more depth to the combat.
there are endless slop games with forced walking and other padding. if someone mods it out it objectively makes the game better.

Speaking of which, silk song has forced walking. that would be good to mod out.

I'm not a fan of double damage. It feels bad to be shown you have X hearts and then enemies just start eating two at a time. Fine for a gimmick boss or two but it just isn't good design.

Rather, put some crutch charm in an early game area, like +2 masks and faster heals but you deal 30% less damage.
