That's the highschool version of history but nobody just sleep walks into a war over bunch of alliances and ties. It takes thousands of orders just to move the fodder horses use, it takes tens of thousands of orders to move the troops. It was a choice, not something that was forced upon the Germans based on treaties because treaties can always be broken for a good reason for example your partner participating in an offensive war

All those alliances being triggered made enemies of countries who were not enemies prior to this, or at the very least, were not ever intending to go to war, and threw everyone into war over bumfuck nowhere being friends with different giant factions.

The Ottoman empire collapsed because they had to fight Britian over being on different sides of an alliance, the Austro Hungarian empire collapsed because it had to get involved in a war it could not afford due to an alliance, Russia ushered in communism after the white army got butt blasted in a war they should never have been involved in and came home to find a revolution because the war had drained the country. WW1 is the turning point in history, not WW2, and it was all triggered over alliances, thats why WW1 is tragic, there is no heroes or defeating the big bad guy with WW1, everyone started fighting over 2 retards fighting behind the dumpster.

I'm just gonna say that Kaiser wanted this war, he made the decision to invade Belgium, prior to WW1 he made the decision to have an arms race with Britain, that's not something you do if you aren't planning for war. When the opportunity for war came he made the decision to escalate instead of deescalating.

For example when it came to Serbia he could've issued an ultimatum that Germany wouldn't back Austria and that would've been that. There's always backroom politics we don't see, when treaty triggers it's by design
