Been using linux for a few years, but only been gaming on it for like a few months (used to dual boot). Works good, Proton is pretty amazing. Even running patches/fan made fixes for old games works fine with Proton/WINE.

Nvidia driver support isn't nearly as good as AMD but it's improving. There are quite a lot of people that use Nvidia & play games on linux, just be aware that games will generally run a bit slower on Nvidia + the chance of encountering problems is definitely higher.

I had no issue with my old 2080 but switched to AMD eventually.

I switched a month or so ago and I'll probably never go back. MS would have to completely change their philosophy and basically go back to a Windows 7 type OS.

Switched since january, tried Bazzite and liked it, since I don't like most of the multiplayer service game slop with bs anticheat felt great to finally get rid of them and actually play good games from my backlog. I'm about to get a secondary ssd to try other distros.

after using Steam Deck, it's a bit too much of a pain in the pass, but it's definitely the platform of choice if you want to maximize memory usage, 16GB on Windows is becoming unusable for games, while 16GB of shared memory is enough on Deck.
