The only part I truly disagree with in Buddhism is pacifism. If Buddha can acknowledge that creating his own suffering via starvation is wrong than we should be able to acknowledge that letting people physically hurt you is wrong.

My parents fucked me over by being kind, intelligent, and hard-working people and convincing me that even 0.1% of people were like them, and that other people were to be treated as you wish to be treated. They set me so far back in life and brought me so much suffering.
The fact of the matter is: if I was shot and dying on the side of the street, people would walk over and past me. If I lost my job and was starving to death in my room, my government and community would leave me to mummify.
Make a good first impression. And then, treat others as they treat you.
