Abiotic Factor
Just got here. Is this "the" spot for bases? Is there any fast way to move all my shit over? Does it connect well to other areas like the default starting area?

the best stop is the cafeteria, followed by the roof above the data center

By the fountain, right? That's where I am now because it's so centrally located, but I've heard that it's too exposed for assaults that happen later on.

the area where you start, but you can build in the open area next to the fountain too

>but I've heard that it's too exposed for assaults that happen later on
there's no such thing, you just build walls and turrets
assaults aren't that common and frankly, they're never dangerous
best spot for efficiency is (in my opinion) the corner section near to the torii portal
you're by all the trams, labs, sec, offices and later on you'll be able to move to distant areas via faster means anyway
ultimately though, just make your base wherever you want, I'd focus on where you want to be aesthetically more than what you feel is efficient
Anonymous No.720052732 [Report]
Nah fpwp, cafeteria is lame, security room is where all the cool people go and turn it into a cool command center for the rest of the facility.

I just don't want to move a all my shit since you can't package containers with everything in them.

just to show where I'm talking about, this was my first base
in my opinion it is probably the most convenient location for the entire game
only on my second playthrough did i keep a minimal offices base until i got to the section i wanted to make my permanent one
i will say you will eventually get tools that make it much easier to move around while carrying large amounts of stuff

How much later? I might just keep my slapdash starting area base until I can move somewhere I think looks cool.

This looks like the game my friends and I have been looking for. is this actually as good as everyone says?
Anonymous No.720053538 [Report] >>720070685

I started playing with my friends but wrangling them was too annoying so I'm playing solo now. Carrying shit alone and not being able to do goofy shit together sucks, but being able to explore at your own pace and take your reading things if you want to is great.

you'll get the cart in that pic in labs, you can pretty much get it whenever you want at this point
it has an inventory and obviously you won't move slowly when driving it so you can load up on stuff

i think it's more fun solo, definitely for a first playthrough

>>720053558
Oh, you mean that cart. I had 4 capacitors and made the shock cannon thing which sucks instead of a hotwire kit, but I'll make that next. I just didn't think it'd be able to move through areas easily since it's so bulky.

I played the vast majority of the game solo and it was great. It's the one survival game I've played that doesn't feel like complete shit solo. The map and environment carries the game hard.

it's very fast and turns on a dime
frankly, the handling is so responsive it takes some getting used to, but it is by far the fastest way of moving around between offices and labs

from where you found grayson (fork lift guy) turn right towards the robot
walk past the robot and go up the maintenance lift
you are maybe 5% through the game, if that

Finished the game a couple days ago. Enjoyed it, but wasn't as keen on post lab areas due to enemies. Plus, the lab was just a nice area full of cool shit to read about and collect. Didn't care for the ending either, nor the last boss.
Also glad that Manse isn't the typical evil guy. I kept expecting some record or email of him being all evil. Was nice finding record and emails of him being concerned over dangerous shit and staff safety.

Maybe half way or approaching it? I'm really not sure because areas vary in size, and I'd often stop to reorganize my base, craft a lot of new shit, and in the labs I moved my entire base there.

the spot is where you want it to be since you'll soon get access to personal teleporters. Easiest way to transport everything is to build carts and throw everything in them.

the office sector (i.e. the starting sector) has a shortcut to every other sector, the game is designed with the assumption you'll set up shop there
anywhere else is going to be a pain in the ass comparatively

i was disappointed that they made it too obvious that Cahn was literally the devil incarnate. you can easily figure this out after labs, and the recording in Manse's quarters that spells it out clearly.

except as a player you can't do anything about it, there's no reward for putting the pieces together. you're not given any alternative choice to not go along with Cahn's plans. so once you figure it out you just have to play the rest of the game knowing the ending is gonna be bad

Is where most of the tram cars are, the things you use to fast travel. It's not a choice or opinion it's a fact, a fact of design. It's cute that you can build "anywhere", but you also willingly shooting yourself in the foot, it is what it is.

by the time you get to reactors you can build wherever you want because you have access to teleporter pads
my experience with making my base in hydro is thus:
>built a minimal base in offices
>moving what I had from offices to hydro wasn't that bad, I just used 2 crafting benches with 2 personal teleporters and moved between them
>in hydro for a long time so it's more convenient
>rarely need to go back to offices, manu or sec but i still have my personal TP for that
>reactors is just a short jump down to the docks
>once reaching reactors I can build as many TP pads as I want and go anywhere instantly
>base location is no longer relevant
>trams outdated and slow compared to TP pads
>base location is now comfier

game should have had scp-containments in every area desu. reactors area was boring as hell even with a jetpack and gravity cube to maneuver.
also the locked chests were never worth it (outside of runic chests and by that point in the game who even needed what they had)

basically the wonder starting wearing off by hydroplant, and it got worse from there.

I'm in the same camp, I don't really care much about crafting survival games but this and the forest I actually enjoyed. I think it works well as a single player experience, its a lot like half-life 1.
