I'd put wii-u era mario at 5-6/10, because it was when nintendo was getting into mobile gaming, so all the 3DS games were plagued by the 1-3 star level rating shit

Call of duty sells 20m units every year probably at least and has the most dedicated fanbase ever. They could release a turd and people would still buy it if the gameplay loop was intact and functioned well. I dont know if Mario can attest to that.
