Same thing happened to me. Early on in the game I blasted a Powder Ganger in the head at point blank range with a shotgun and he didn't die. This kills the immersion. In Stalker and Metro a head shot downs any human enemies.

New Vegas' start is the worst start in any "critically acclaimed" game ever. The fact that you have to dump entire mags on enemies is dogshit. That's a problem with these kinds of games in general. Even the 1st Stalker has it, a game much better than Fallout 3: two spirit edition.

It's much shorter than 3's start. You spend a few minutes creating your character, then you can have your character go wherever you want. The tutorial quests are relatively short, and if you don't like the enemies being damage sponges, then you can turn the difficulty (which just affects damage done by and to the player character) down and get a better gun than the starting pistol or rifle. There's even a relatively easy-to-obtain SMG that shreds early-game enemies in the starting house.

I think what bothers me the most about Varg is not the fact that he call himself a pagan (thought that's on itself retarded), but that he isn't, in fact, a pagan.
