1. Get a lot of different Blades. XC2's combat has a lot of systems that stack on top of each other and so you get more from having a wide variety of tools
2. Break is one of the most important skills to have. You can completely neuter enemy offense by using Driver Combos but Driver combos require Break to start. Break is good anyway since it stops whatever the enemy was doing. I always try to keep Break skills on at least 2/3 Drivers
3. Fusion Combos are a strength multiplier. If you do a Blade Combo (pressing A to preform a special) while a Driver Combo is already active (Break, Topple, Launch) then you can get massive multipliers to your raw damage, combo timers, and Chain Attack gauge. There's a temptation to save Fusion Combos for Launch since it gives the biggest numbers but even Break and Topple Fusion Combos can give a noticeable burst in strength
4. Chain Attacks are broken. The obvious idea is to stack up a bunch of lv3 orbs so you can do a bazillion damage with chain attacks but there are other reasons why you want to keep these loaded. For starters, you're invincible. So if you see an attack that would kill you, start a chain attack and suddenly it just won't. For that matter, if you plan ahead, you can use Chain Attacks to heal your whole party for free. Level 4 Combos also have the invincibility effect too FYI
