There was a boost on League but it was completely superficial and lasted all of a few weeks. Every single new person left as soon as they found out this place is filled with assholes who don't know how to play the game but will scream enough to make you believe they do.

But the real damage Arcane did was that it gave idiots fake expectations about what LoL really is. I believe Piltover and Zaun are special because they're a complete anomaly in Runterra. Absolute no single other place is like it. No other place is grounded/real life-esque. But now all the stupid retards who came because of the show think LoL is all "le social commentary".

As someone who played during the beta and for years after, the lore has NEVER been consistent with LoL. The original lore was piecemail replaced/dropped and retconned all the time.
I still remember the embarassing ass "Lore match" where the head writer roleplayed being a reporter in the setting while Phreak did normal match commentary. The head writer, as reporter, referred to Nidalee as "his girlfriend" multiple times throughout, in his weird nasally voice.
