the levels were insultingly linear after the massive playgrounds of 64 and sunshine. Literally flying carpet auto scrollers or hallways floating in space. Imagine an entire game based around the FLUDD-less stages in sunshine, only all the difficulty is removed and youd need the reaction time of a 4 year old to ever get hit. Remember how sunshine and 64 had a camera you could maneuver to peer around things or yknow, POSITION THE CAMERA? Galaxy wont let you do that. Why? Because fuck you
But at least its fun to play!!! you might shout, but the powerups suck too. On top of the platforming being incredibly floaty and giving you a free spin move for extended height, you get exciting mushroom powers like...turning into a sspring and making movement more cumbersome, or an extended charge jump to help you reach places you can get to without it. Or maybe you get the fabulous DRILL power, where you can dig through to the other side of the planet(you'll never have a reason to do so outside of the boss) on extremely specific tiles only, Or how about boulder mario, which is fun for a bowling minigame but otherwise entirely worthless?
or how about we stop the platforming momentum entirely and have the player have to point at grab stars to swing him along as slowly as possible?
