I did like her and Last Light and Exodus overall but I kinda miss how cold and emotionless the first game was. You were just a faceless dude on a mission in the first game, occasionally running into weird personalities here and there but the game overall never had any drama to it. Just get to point A to point B. There was a real sense of stoicism that I really liked. then all of a sudden Last Light and Exodus got all dramatic and emotional for no reason. Not saying they’re bad games (though Exodus does have problems) but the tonal shift is so glaring

They ruined this game by having those humanoid zombie guys being the main enemies everywhere, what the hell ere they thinking with that? they should have been limited to the desert level where they blend in to the walls and hide in the sand. if feels like they were designed for that specific level, then spammed throughout the whole game even though they did not really fit

its bad because it retroactively ruins the previous games. the original games are master class in making you feel isolated in a dead world, but now instead of being alone in a dead and hostile world, you're instead actually just trapped in a little snow globe while the rest of the world moves on. its a fucking awful twist that kills off the appeal of the earlier entries of the game

its also awful for the whole dark ones story line. the entire point of the dark ones was that the world was fucked and they were emerging as its new inhabitants as a new intelligent lifeform adapted to the toxic environment of dead world outside. now it turns out there is no "dead world outside" and never was, so what the fuck was even the point of that whole story?

Kshatriya is amazing, many players say it's the peak of the franchise. Anna and Khan are short but sweet. Pavel is pretty fun loud or quiet and is also pretty long. Sniper Team is good if you like stealth but having to reload if you get spotted is annoying. Heavy Team is only a few minutes long but it is the most hideously difficult combat in the series. If you play it on Ranger Hardcore you will want to tear your hair out. I haven't actually played The Tower or Spider Lair.

4A has been too autistic about their le epic half-life reference with the mute protag. Artyom has always yapped in the loading screens and endings so it's not like he doesn't have any thoughts or agenda. It's especially jarring when every time they give us control of any other character in the DLCs they talk just fine.

Novosibirsk as a whole was just pure kino, going back to the metro proper on a snowy graveyard of a town as the final stage of the game, the dlc showing just how hopeless everything was, the supernatural stuff finally coming back right before meeting the gorillas, by far the best setting in exodus
