For context...
You are a kid in the 90s.
You definitively had SMW which is a killer app while the Genesis included some games but not its definitive titles. If anything I really dislike SMW2 in contrast to SMB3 and World.
If you were lucky, your parents got you the combination of the following: Star Fox / Super Metroid / Street Fighter 2 / Legend of Zelda and some 3rd Party Title but no one had a complete library, not even the rich kids, so you definitively missed out on something.
Almost nobody played Earthbound, Secret of Mana or FF3 back when much less own it.
You had to rely on Blockbuster reason everyone favored Beat'Em Ups and Fighting Games or Platformers because imagine beating an RPG through fucking Blockbuster.
So the SNES seems like a better console because you only needed a few core games.
The Genesis better games came way later or were arcade ports.
Plenty of the Genesis best games were relatively unknown compared to the SNES.
Nowadays we know the Genesis had a killer library if you take a look at the whole but at the time the SNES was good for the same reason the N64 was good. Value and and you only needed a handful of games. The PS took over the market when piracy became more mainstream. Do you prefer your N64 library of 8 games at most? or your PS library of 4 original games and about a drawer of burned CDs?
