I prefer pure evil completely unfair traps 2bh.
They're fucking traps, not donkey kong throwing a barrel at you. You're not meant to see them and it's meant to piss you off a bit. Then you learn a path around them. Or you should get something to make them become visible, to motivate you to use mechanics and find things that make traps easier to find.
MGS1 is the best game for this with hidden claymores.
1. it makes them feel like REAL traps in real life which you normally can't see at all
2. you use workarounds and gadgets (Thermal goggles, Mine detectors) to work around what you can't see, which is kinda neato and fun, it becomes a minor puzzle and disarming them feels like an achievement
In SS, disarming traps can kinda be fun. Kinda. But they're also very obvious and that makes me ashamed when I get caught.
