What made this game so good or bad?

I remember really disliking how the special moves on weapons used a limited resource you needed to replenish with items, and story bits with insanely long dungeon crawls but it's been ages since I've played. Been playing a bit of PSP2 Infinity on my vita and that actually has the special move resource regenerate which is pretty nice.

Bad because of the fucked up way they delivered half of the story in single player and half of the story in the paid online multiplayer.
Kino because it was the most 2006 chatroom experience there would ever be.

I do remember the chatting. That was very addicting.

Story was bad
PP and 6 weapons max (including for casters) gutted a lot of versatility you had before
Combat was better but not meaningfully so
Planets were cool but squandered by specific missions being far and away the best to run (just like the first game lol)

It was perfectly okay but not a step up, and if you were a fan of the original the downgrades were too noticeable and would really piss you off

i am one of the few to have experienced the xbox 360 demo. it was the end of an era. it truly encapsulated everything good we lost

I also remember the penises. It was basically Uno but for free.

It wasn't terrible, but PSO1 dead-enders whined to high-heaven that it changed the combat. While the changes it did were good/bad depending on how you viewed them.

PSPortable on PSP, ironically enough fixes most of the issues but had the issue of no second stick for camera control, so it's awkward to play.
