olivia was an actual good character though who was a leader, was clearly capable of throwing down with monsters so earned her place, her authority and strength isn't show in contrast to a man or in a way that puts any one else down

Olivia is an NPC hunter who actually does helpful things. Another woman named Alma is the six offender's equivalent to the Handler, who has to 'authorize' all your hunts like goddamn Adam from Metroid Other M and follows you around, just so people can clap at the penultimate story boss monster. The only good thing about her is furry smut turning her into a Seikret not unlike how Pukei-Pukei somehow became associated with the Handler. Despite this, she is still marginally less annoying than the Indian kid.
