Just stop panicing and moving around all over.
The only time he's annoying is when two of those big fuckers spawn with him, but if he does the punch down attack like in your image he can kill them in 1 hit.

smack the boss between attacks when it is too far away from you to hit in melee and the damage will add up quickly

Took a shot at the Courier's Rasher, unfortunately I died while making my second trip back and now all the enemies are back. Also I realized I should've killed one of those mini-judge enemies in Blasted Steps that I skipped cause it'd make the progress through there quicker (it was the first one in the room after the top of the vertical shaft with the Fast Travel station for reference). Was surprisingly cathartic going through some areas I'd struggled in the Citadel and Blasted Steps and just cleaning them out, I do wish the bomb flower enemies in Shellwood didn't always respawn though.

It does feel like I've got a bunch of things on my plate but I'm not sure which to tackle as I've tried each and had middling results;

- Moorwing in Greymoor (cause I accidentally skipped the original encounter due to getting all the Fleas)
- 2nd Savage Beastfly in Far Fields (feel pretty confident I'll get this one soon, just gotta get better at handling the little fire spitter enemies)
- Mount Fay climb (Just need to go back at some point with enough rosaries to buy the bench, my destitute ass rocked up with fuck all rosaries)
- Bilewater & Cogwork Core (did some exploration but left partway through, don't remember if there was some roadblock or I was just getting my ass handed to me)
- High Halls (getting stuck on an enemy gauntlet fight, I fucking hate the big flying guys, the maestros are alright though)

I told you it was 4 hours in. I'm not even aware that there are nail upgrades in this game. It was definitely 3 or 4 hits for the little spiky guys. There might've been tougher enemies later in the fight, but they died too quickly for me to register them. Anyway, I'm 9 hours in and just beat Sister Splinter on my first go. This game is fun and just the right amount of difficult so far, if a little easier.

If you are not in point blank range of the adds, they survive the silkstorm
He also starts summoning 2 adds one on each side
If anything silkstorm/parry is a necessity to even get trough the first phases. The fight is still absolute cancer. And an RNG fest. Sometimes the adds would decide to fly away, way out of my range. I just could not touch them while they could shit up the arena.
The AI of flying enemies is 100% cancer. Intentionally designed to be as annoying and time wasting as possible.

Does he fall to the ground?
I feel like this is necessary.
Sister Splinter falls on you in it's fight when you stun them and it harms you. I like that personally. You should be forced to get out of it's way.

But with this webm it's looking like collision is forcing Hornet into the boss, which probably is a genuine... bug.
Honestly baffling this bug isn't very very common given the format of the game and things that happen with collision/physics. This must have been a nightmare to bug test and I suspect most of the past few years was spent polishing the combat, which is by far the crispest I've seen for a game like this given the complex bullshit it does with Hornet's movement. They could have just nerfed her to make her less buggy here, but where's the fun in that right?

Doubt it. I mean the interaction of changing the hitbox might be a bug, but the hitboxes are almost always larger than the enemy/you, this is the first game that I saw doing that, almost always the hitboxes are within the enemy, to give the player a bit of a grace, not here tho.

Are hits even consistent?
I still suspect that if you hit things a certain distance away and pressing buttons a specific amount of time changes the damage amount. I only suspect this because of fucking around with bouncing with the needle, which is kinda fun.
I hope it's inconsistent to stop the player from totally relying on their mental health gauge of the boss. There's a reason why there is no souls hp bar.
Anonymous No.720116142 >>720116264

The hitbox probably does change, but the real issue is that it looks like Hornet is being pushed into the boss, not away from the boss when that change happens. I think I get that issue a bit. I just learned to keep a bit of distance when it stuns, but your case is kinda unlucky and genuinely hinders the gameplay, making the player hesitate with a viable strat.

I don't think so. The little flying bugs (both the slow, floating ones and the ones that dash horizontally) take 3 hits to kill. This boss really isn't that hard; it's in the running for the easiest boss in the game. That said, I can understand how a new player or one unfamiliar with the first game (or sidescrollers in general) could struggle. I find it a little annoying that my familiarity with the prequel has let me breeze through the game so far. I'm just hoping for a difficulty spike soon to spice things up.

Sekiro suffered the same issue with spirit emblems, where you barely used them because if you relied on them you constantly ran out and had to farm them. I donโ€™t know why shards are even a thing. The tools already have an ammo counter that only reloads at benches, thatโ€™s sufficient without a secondary reserve currency pool.

This is an unavoidable outcome of playtesting your own game. Being very good at a game while also having it memorized makes it impossible to properly evaluate the difficulty of enemies and platforming challenges. Spirit Emblems were much worse in Sekiro. Killing a Sekiro enemy takes much longer than killing a Silksong enemy and you got less emblems with each use of a tool being much more expensive. Plus your inventory of emblems is super limited in Sekiro which makes the cost of tool usage annoying as you cannot stockpile them.

I ran out of shards once ever and it was when doing Sinner's Road because I needed spike traps to kill those sword flies. Meanwhile I never used prosthetics in Sekiro because I never had the emblems.

Meanwhile in Sekiro

If the best thing you can say about a mechanic is โ€œI didnโ€™t notice it at allโ€ itโ€™s still a bad fucking mechanic. It variously either annoys the player or makes no difference; never once does it have a positive effect on overall game balance.

The purpose of ammo constraints in any game is to balance a useful tool by forcing the player to consider where best to use it and to use it carefully, because uses are limited. Insofar as the only way to reload your combat tools is to reach a checkpoint and respawn all of the enemies, having that reload draw from a master pool serves no purpose.

It isnโ€™t even like itโ€™s needed to give the game currency more value, Rosaries are already used for everything to a degree that would make a modern capitalist blush, adding a second currency does nothing but make the player go
>oh boy, I see this secret area gives me the WORTHLESS money

The entire shards system should be scrapped. Replace shard drops with small rosary drops and have tool ammo only be contingent upon bench reloads.

East of hunters march is easier because you couldve gone UNDER hunters march (forgot the name, the fire one) and got the heat shield, then gone east and north from there, which is clearly what the game sees as the "easy path"
hunters march is clearly a challenging route thats significantly faster, for speedrunning or challenge purposes I'd assume, since its basically a straight bridge from A to B.

Yes, but the RNG is kind of bullshit because of the fat bugs I-frames. That's where the fight just gets unfair because he takes no fucking damage even when he's directly under sometimes and if you're cornered it gets annoying because you have Beastfly running to you and then that fatass cutting you off.

But I do agree, it's a DPS + skill check. They're checking to see if you actually use your tools, Skills and Crests, instead of running around pogoing (which you think you can do because the boss is fat and gives you a bunch of bounces).

I left learning a lot... and shockingly had less trouble on the rematch with the added stage hazard because the game does this a bunch. While I think some hazards and stunned bosses hitting for two is bullshit, I think a lot of things aren't that bad once you question what the devs were trying to do in certain areas. Hunter's March in general doesn't actually have something worth of use early, and it's purposely in a direction where most players end up going. Shit, go back with the float and you realize how fucking stupidly easy it is to navigate and how almost everything here is kind of shitty if you're just hopping early game.

Enemies in this game probably do way more than him though and react weirdly to you because you have so much speed now that they have to compensate for it. To me, I've been waiting for games to start doing this more because reviewists nerfed them hard on account of them being mad about having to review games that take time to master and effort to play.
I used to play games where enemies took up to 10-20 hits and it felt far more satisfying to overcome than games where they took 1 hit.

Dealing with it in Cities Skylines is a fucking nightmare.
Having grown up with sim city 3000 and 4 and seeing this slow clunky mess was quite something.

I wonder how they got these large areas with heaps of enemies to function in this game. There are several layers of shit moving at different speeds and ways at all times and it has to calculate all of that shit and render output. I can't see how they managed this on unity.
HK used to have bad lag for me at times.
Phantom fight got a bit slower after about 2 hours of fighting it (I was tired though, so maybe it was just my brain) and I was missing hits again that I had earlier mastered and it was a noticeably consistent timing miscalculation for me. I hope that's just me getting tired.

>yes do these multiple fetch quests for us as a test
Then again, these fetch quests don't feel like HK's because the difficulty of the areas are so high that even late game tools don't make it much easier.
I just wish they had ignored fetch quests and just given you better tool rewards to bait you into exploring the map. The thing that has made me explore the map the most are quest for Shakra's maps, bell stations, shops and tools placed around the world behind labrinths, puzzles and bosses/enemy royales. The fetch quests are by far the biggest criticism of the game.

They only really work when they lead to more quests with more interesting gameplay, like FNV does, or more puzzles like Blue Prince does with it's collectables.

yea, I'm loving the game, but agree on the shards.
The only time they come into play is if you keep replaying a boss or if you need to make a donation. So its like you have them available at all times except for when you actually need them. And because theres a cap, and because they have pretty limited ammo per sit, it just doesnt feel rewarding when you find a hidden path that just gives you a shard rock. Like great! I can use my full move set for 1 more bossfight. And then theres the potions that make you come back to the NPC to refill it every 30/40 charges on top of it. It's like the mechanic exists entirely to make a charm better but by the time you get it you're done with a large part of the game.

How about you don't get stuck on easy bosses. If you're having trouble with this you may as well quit now because those aren't remotely difficult compared to late game.

I'm a NEET and have done nothing but play video games and post on 4chan for the last 15 years. Those bosses are extremely easy and you need to git gud.

If youโ€™ve exhausted literally every route and youโ€™re still too shit to beat any of the many bosses available, then the game just isnโ€™t for you. It doesnโ€™t need to โ€œjustifyโ€ itself to a shitter who refuses to put in any effort and learn the gameโ€™s mechanics and bossโ€™s attacks

I got the reaper crest and immediately started enjoying myself more, but that's was also lined up with Shellwood, so far the only zone I've enjoyed exploring.

I beat act 3 and I have no clue what youโ€™re referring to. The only section that rivals path of pain was the climb to the surface for the final step of the mr mushroom quest, entirely optional

>Sister Splinter falls on you in it's fight when you stun them and it harms you. I like that personally. You should be forced to get out of it's way.
I couldn't get out of her way because I was almost dead in the corner and there was a flyer doing his invincible spin attack blocking me. I would have lived if she didn't fall because I accidentally hit her.

touch grass, neets. Imagine having such a pathetic life that literally the only thing you have going for it is that you forced yourself to finish an unfinished unplaytested game just for bragging rights that literally no one cares about

Luckily the game will whip you up to shape by mid act 2. Or you just get filtered before then.

First few attempts of a hard boss should be spent just learning their moveset, just focus on dodging and positioning until you get a decent grasp of what to do. Going in swining your nail around is pointless. They are tanks, you die in 2-4 hits.
