Now that we're less than 2 months away from eu5, what are your biggest hopes and fears based on what you've seen? Do you have any campaigns in mind at the moment?

Challenging mid/late game.

Barebones unrewarding colonization system which seems to be the true based on early access feedback.

After buying Imperator and Vicky 3 at release, I will see you guys in a year when it's on sale and has some patches.
Anonymous No.720130236 >>720135653
Probably not gonna be worth it for at least 2 or 3 years, probably more. It's been 6 years since CK3 came out and its still missing major features from ck2.

I'll bring something up i haven't heard complaints about yet.
I want the default map to show borders better, i don't like that i feel forced to use the diplomatic map mode in 4.

never happening, that would require more work than just copying ck3's UI wholesale

maybe in two years when the game is playable there will be mods to remove it

Most of the changes look good and necessary to me, but fuck me there are so many sub systems now. It looks like there's just way too much shit to be doing all the time, everywhere. A good 50-60% of my playtime in EU3 and EU4 is in pause navigating menus and EU5 has at least 20 new menus from what I've seen

I have a bit of a fear that it will be a bit like Vicky 3, where it has a lot of small mechanics that sound neat on paper, but are either meaningless or so esoteric that you just end up ignoring it.

>>720130471
The map in general just looks a bit ass. They did the same with CK3 for some reason.

>Imperator map looks great
>CK3 map is a massive step back
>Vicky 3 map looks great
>EUV map is a massive step back

Make up your damn mind Paradox.
Anonymous No.720131752
im gonna do what i do with every new paradox game

play as denmark and cheat my way to victory for the first couple of games in order to learn the systems
looks like it's gonna be the hardest denmark run yet, atleast in the early game

I will never buy another Paradox game after how badly they fucked up Vicky 3 and CS2

I've tried conquering ireland four times now and just can't do it. The fuckface english always end up fucking everyone up and then me. It's insanely annoying.

I really don't care because I will pirate it.
But I don't really trust Nu-Paradox. Thry haven't released a good gsme in the last decade.

>It's been 6 years since CK3 came out and its still missing major features from ck2.
it's not ck2. it's chock full of things ck2 could never have in it. if you expect eu5 to be eu4 plus all dlcs you're going to be disappointed.
Anonymous No.720135686
all the people who played it early are pussyfooting around their agreement with Paradox and all but calling it outright awful. this is their final nail in the coffin

I ain't touching it for atleast 2 years. By then we will get the Eastern Europe/Byzaboo flavour and units DLC and I will download a cracked version of it.

I hope different nations will feel different to play. I fear they won't. EU4 did it pretty well in the end, but I'm not quite sure how.

In EU4? Irish minors aren't very easy to play as in that game. This isn't CK and Ireland isn't the "tutorial island." Pick some big country like Castile where you can just chill and have few immediate threats around you.

You can blitz down the island in a couple years, then if/when the english do attack you farm their stacks on the strait crossing/naval landings.
Anonymous No.720136429 >>720136776
I'm not buying because the UI looks ugly, they decided to put the ugly 3D models from CK3 everywhere, my PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements, and I can't be bothered to just relearn everything (I know how EU4 works pretty well at this point).

I think EU4 went too far to the point some nations have ridiculous overpowered mission trees that give them too many buffs and railroaded claims. Some people have said EU5 is taking a more sandbox approach

Anonymous No.720136628
>>720136474
I do like the mission system because it gives thematically appropriate goals, but yeah, the rewards can be pretty op. Making it more of a sandbox will just result in every nation feeling exactly alike, which is what happened in Victoria 3.

How did you divert enought value to the node? I tried doing this once, but I was way too slow and by the time I had enough control, diverting enough value would have required regular blobbing everywhere.

It's funny to say that because allying Aragon and killing Castile immediately is the go-to strategy as Portugal

That's in EUIV, in EUV Castille is one of the richest and most populated countries in the game.
