people want to be mad about this, and I agree that being mad about the launch was valid because they lied about what was in the game on release

but the fact they actually went back and added everything they promised AND MORE wipes that away IMO, they could have just taken the money and run like so many other devs who promise features and then never deliver

I really love all the content they added, but the mechanics themselves (the mining, the flying and the exploration) aren't that great and nothing can really change that sadly. I just wish they begin working on NMS2 already. I wouldn't even be mad if they use a reasonable F2P model to sustain the game, since they proved they can dish out the updates.

Because you know exactly what these threads are for. Nothing but shit posting. You can go view the numbers on Steam Charts or officially on Steam. They're not hidden. But nobody is here to truly discuss anything meaningful about them. The only reason I care about player numbers as a player is if I want to partake in the online component, and I want to see how alive it is. Anything outside of that is meaningless from a player perspective. All these threads devolve into people fighting over which game is more popular. What people should really be focusing on is which games they personally like. My favorite game of all time is Ghost Trick on DS. I have never once considered how many concurrent players it has or how successful it is. I do not give a shit. I enjoyed the game. Simple as.

it's still a game with planets that become the same after your 4th visit, all the animals have the same skeletons(they might have added more since release) planets have better generations but they're still very samey and you don't really care about what's on the planet except for the one thing you need

the game is great if you love "exploration" and collecting stuff, last time i played was a little after the organic ship update and they wanted to timegate me AND grind for tickets, just for a chance of getting an upgrade on my bioship, so there's some design decisions that are there just to pad out the game, because if you could do these quests back-to-back it would be over within the first 100 hours

Procedurally generated too. In dyson you explore solar systems. You can now do that Factorio too. People are kinda cut on which is better, I think both are fun in their own ways.

Dyson Sphere and Factorio are automation games from a top down perspective.
If someone is looking for a game where you explore planets in a space suit if someone reccd Factorio or Dyson Sphere I'd call them a fucking retard because those games are so heavily focused on automation and stuff that it's not really a space exploration game, completely ignoring that it's neither first person.
NMS is boring as shit and will never not be boring as shit because it's mechanics are shallow and set in stone, but there's not really any "you're in a space suit first person and you explore shit" games, besides metroid prime 1 and 2 funnily enough.

for the same reason why (using your logic) porn and jerking off is better than a woman, but you dont get laid, so you have never made the drive to a girl, had sex, and immediately after thought "wow i wish i wasnt here."

you need to decide whether you want the best, which is singular and automated (in your case, the auto turret, in the case of my analogy, jerking off alone), or if you want to put up with other people because you like other people (in your case, a manned gunner sear, in the case of my analogy, having sex)

Just buy it from the anomaly or rush the base archive quest line, but you also need the one that lets you summon an exocraft to anywhere in the galaxy from your base

In Mass Effect (the first only, because in 2 and 3 is just a stupid scan) there were some planets with avaliable exploration, that means you landed with a Vehicle and were able to move around in a very limited zone, with some secrets, points of interest and few buildings working as a mini dungeon. As I sad it was very limited but fun nonetheless

No Man's Sky's points of interests are disappointing imo. Worse than Starfield's and tiny. Ruins are just a couple shitty building models with one or two things to grab. Most stations and freighters and facilities look the exact same with the same layout. Trade posts too.

it doesn't happen to half of all-time peak figures, but every big update brings back a decent number of players.

it's amazing to me people still don't understand the kind of game nms is. it will never be some space rpg epic people dreamed up in their mind.

this is the only thing I ever thought was cool about the game but they stopped doing it so faggot autists wouldn't complain their little dirt Minecraft went away.

A whole game about space exploration that discourages exploring in favor of making a permanent base and always returning to it. So retarded.
At least the Corvettes kinda half fix that problem but it's still there.

Most of the content in this game is just repetitive fetch quests or waiting for meters to finish so you can collect [thing]. Settlements, fleets, missions. None of them should have been implemented and they should have spent that time fleshing out exploration aspects and base/ship building more instead, the former of which could have been great but even games like Satisfactory do that shit better.
"Make your own fun" my fat hairy ass.
>>720140738
None of them are worth it. Vehicles are total garbage besides your ship and the submarine (but only because you NEED it for underwater shit).
What you really want is to find a planet with giant flying beetles. Tame one and you'll be hovering around the planet at fucking mach speed with no terrain hindrance. They're busted as fuck. And cute.

We can literally see that it has happened twice, on the graph that you posted.

the expeditions deliberately remove 90% of the gay shit ass grinding the main game has and then you just transfer all the shit back to the main game. that's how they fixed it. they have timed events that let you skip the boring shittiest parts of the game

They are making a new one. NMS is a testbed for code that they may recycle for their new game.

People keep comparing NMS to Minecraft but it's obvious that it's their new game that will be their minecraft. Let's see now that they're building a game from the ground up with some experience if they are able to integrate systems properly. Also give me lizards pls

i recall starting this game for the first time when it was on a fixed state back then but it's not really interesting.
everyone was praising the shit out of the game but there was nothing mind blowing about it so i bet that new update is the same as every previous one since my last game

The new ships look nice and the interior decorating is alright. That's about it. Saw a video of someone spacewalking into a black hole. Turns out the black hole was just a flat circle and they flew right through the model. Kind of sums up the new update, I just quit the expedition.

Yes. Every update adds to the game, but it's the same old formula. Updates won't sell anyone on the game if they weren't already interested.

As the other anon said it really is like Starfield except without loading screens - something to find every couple meters but it's just the same model of a dictionary rock, or the same beacon, or the same two ruined buildings that were destroyed in the same way the previous 7000 of those were etc. The only things you can really discover is a nice screenshot location then you move on to the next planet or good hotspot clusters to plant a base

This. I tried the game when the first update dropped and shills were like "EVERYTHING IS FIXED NOW". Turns out it's boring survivalcraftingslop with an obsession for quantity over quality, and no updates changed that so far.
