Gloomwood is absolutely a better game. Peripeteia is an objectively badly designed game that you enjoy entirely based on vibes and excellent troon music.

Don't know about Gloomwood but apparently it is good. Peri on the other hand is amazing but filters people hard. Like most people have trouble following the very obvious path to planetarium. Many people have gotten filtered hard by the starting pit (the very first area of the game) because they can't read with comprehension, Only give Peri a shot if you either a a god gamer who can focus for 5 minutes to read a bit of text and explore or if you are willing to read some Steam guides. The game is also a bit janky and can break progression in a few places if you don't do things exactly as they were intended so make like 3-4 saves per level.

It's more like an exploration/stealth shooter game. You talk with NPC to learn lore or hear funny things, you explore the map to find guns and consumables, you shoot up enemies and loot them for ammo. Gloomwood is one of the only long running EA titles where the dev actually seems to give a shit. It's clearly Dillon Roger's favorite thing he's ever made and his passion project. It does annoy me that he will spend 3 months talking about rat AI of all things, but it's clear work is progressing. He drops at least 1 or 2 major updates a year.

Peri has 5 levels + Arena mode.
Each level except for one will take as much as 3h if you actually explore it though it entirely depends on the routes you choose. Speed runs finish the game in 11 minutes even without glitches. Each level has at least 3 routes. There's one level that is infamous for filtering people and even if you look up a guide it can take solid 8h to beat (remember to take the Makarov from the hanging arm and use mid-air jump to avoid damage). It's replayable so you can multiply that time by 1.5. Again it entirely depends on whether you rush to the exit the moment you do the main objective or explore and talk to every NPC, read item descriptions etc. Also do take to heart what I've wrote here >>720148851 as the game really does filter people.
