Most retarded "oh man" moment I can remember was in Fallout 3.
There's these small unmarked broadcasts you can pick up on your radio dotted around the map, and one of them was some father with his wife and two kids taking shelter nearby, with one of them being sick/injured. Once you find it and go inside, you go through a small hallway to an open room with the ham radio and two skeletons who committed suicide. A little further you can find a collapsed wall and a small crevice, with two makeshift graves you can safely assume were the children.
So with no ambient music or anything like that and the broadcast pleading for help replaying over and over the entire time, I turned off the ham radio to be greeted by an eerie silence, and the slight sound of the wind.
As I said, sounds kinda stupid cause it's Fallout 3, but I guess it being wacky and violent kinda help made it hit just right.

It actually is cool to see in a modern game. Whenever I see something interesting like that in a game I just think "oh there's going to be some mission or set piece here later". Cyberpunk especially was bad about this, where every single cool thing I found on my own would pop up in missions later

Yeah I dislike the specific example since it's Starfield which is a boring and procedurally generated game, but I agree with the general principle, San Andreas has tons of cool unique spots that serve no real purpose that are always a joy to find, much better than just another collectible

I unironically wish Starfield had more of this and less generic bandit bases. I want genuinely empty planets to explore so I really feel like I'm alone out in space. I want to walk an hour away from my ship in real time and use landmarks to keep track of where I am. I want to overlook a massive valley then cross it all the way to the other side and look back.
The problem with Starfield and most open world games is that they are full of bullshit. There is very little real exploration. Fuck Ubisoft and the Witcher 3 for making everyone think you're not allowed to travel more than 100 meters without finding some dumb side activity or chest.

Starfield is already designed so that the core worlds have all the rpg content and most of space is full of nothing. I just want the empty planets to be genuinely empty and not full of bandit factories. It wouldn't take away anything because there's nothing unique to find on those planets anyways, they're pure filler but instead of being slightly unique they all have the same few landmarks repeated over and over so they all feel exactly the same.

Anonymous No.720150072 >>720150625
Any other Starfield haters want to talk about the phenomena and how interesting and personal the experience of play is?
I used to think people like this were retards but I guess the idea of exploration and the reward loop is much more complex than that. On some level I understand it because I also like finding random comfy places in vidya. Oblivion and Morrowind in particular are wonderful atmospheric pieces and I remember the only moment I enjoyed about Witcher 3 was watching the wind bend the trees from a clifftop. So while through my dislike of Starfield it's easy to criticize the twitter user in the OP post, it's not a completely alien idea to me that he found finding some random fucking crater in the middle of goddamn nowhere "exploration" and the problem is more with the design of the game not the transformative experience with video games.

tl;dr I'm stupid.

Explain Vtubing to me. Why would someone pay money to watch some ugly bitch that literally don't give a fuck about you and is fake ass hell while shit at video games?

I get why some might watch streaming like a tournament or if they are really skilled at something but watching a ugly bitch behind a anime drawing making fake cute noises and being flirty is just fucking sad.

Is this like the next evolution in the streamer slut pipeline? They don't even need to show irl tits anymore. They can just hide behind a anime image and talk while millions of sad simps throw money at them?

If you are paying for a girl you could at least donate it to a porn streamer at least there you actually get interaction and maybe some tits and pussy shots.

>if it's low detail, it's probably not worth looking at
thing going for it. Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect andromeda had worse exploration, even though I liked the mako and the planet missions, it was kind of a slog to drive around and find everything without a map or a mod. Vs outer wilds and the first 2 acts of baldurs gate 3 which were obviously designed to push players towards finding things. also, I'd say BG3 kind of sucks if you know where everything on the map is, imo

Fun fact, the way they change color like that is they have tiny sacs filled with black pigment throughout their body. When they relax the pigment spreads out into small capillaries which cover a big surface area to be more visible. To turn transparent they suck the pigment back up into the sacks so they're just a bunch of tiny black dots that are hard to see.

It's so moronic every time I see Redditard say things like, "Starfield just needs 100 new procedural POIs!!"
The problem isn't the copy-pasted POIs. It's that there are absolutely no quests that start inside a POI and lead to something handcrafted. We need things like a distress signal from space, a lost courier's package, a flyer that leads you to a suspicious gang. You know, elements like Meridia's Beacon.
But there's none of that. It's all just radiant quests. Even on the hardest, level 100 planets, there is nothing to find. I genuinely wonder what was going through the heads of the idiots who approved this design.
