>play old rpg
>each playthrough has different dialogue depending on who you pick for your party
>game has secret story characters you get by doing specific things not told to you
>when you need to go to a new area you’re given directions or left to your own to figure out instead of yellow paint or arrows
>game has multiple endings for the main story route
>game has a completely different story alternate secret route on top of the main multiple endings
They don’t make games like they used too

try indie RPGs
ATOM RPG and Space Wreck tick just about all of those boxes

>Secret story character
This is the one I miss the most. Even having Party Members be missable at all is incredibly novel. Even if it's just clicking a single can't-miss-it dialogue option I finished DA:O without Leliana, having to specifically ask a character to join you makes the presence of each party member all the more meaningful.

It amused me that Oblivion had one single quest where the player is given directions based on landmarks in a note and encouraged to navigate themselves. It really illustrates the point of change between the two paradigms.

Yes. Old RPGs were designed like labyrinths to encourage you to buy a strategy guide.
