probably a good idea if you struggled on that because the rest of the game was going to rape you and make you cry, you must just not be experienced at metroidvanias

I've realized what's my weakness with HK bosses: it's really hard to program myself, it takes a lot of time to do that.
For example, I know I should jump when she does that rush thing leaving fire columns behind her, jump and hit down. But instead I panic and do dumb shit like try running away from her, then I lose the tempo and die. However, I don't have the same issue with her down attack, I jump at it normally.
Is it just a (you) problem, or does anybody else have the same issue?

That means you're learning, just apply it when you can
Same thing for fighting games, realizing what you could have done is more important than winning without knowing how

But I'm really slow to learn this. My brain memory learns lots faster than my muscle memory. Can I speed it up somehow, or am I doomed to killing every hard boss after 30+ tries?
And not even hard, both widow and the wood boss were really easy, but my mechanics held me back.

There is no way you queers were alive to play a Mega Man game on the PS1 or earlier. And I do NOT mean playing it way after the fact emulated with savestates.

I had the same problem. You're supposed to dash forward into melee range when she does the bell toss attack. I knew this straight away, I was making a conscious effort to do that. But every single time she did the attack I jumped or dashed away and got owned instead, even though I was chiding myself every time I did that even if I got away with it that one time. I never managed to change that behavior, just grinded the fight until I did enough dps to get through it.

Cry me a river zoomie boy. The odschool counterparts used to have those infected pits just be insta death pitfalls that would make you restart the entire stage if you ran out of lives. Or straight to your last save depending on the type of game. Meanwhile, this modern game gives you a gorillion safety net tools. Im at Bilewater now, and I have access to three different air dashes. Not to mention the cheeseable cleanse and heal mechanic.

To add to that, im basically through Bilewater already, and the only problem i had with the place was that I didnt find the map yet. Ive already moved on to the next zone with intent to pick up the map later. Literally git gud.

Just beat that fucker. Stomped me 30-35 times. The trek you take from the nearest bench to the boss is forever in my memory now.

/v/ treats "old games made you retry levels because padding" as gospel. Developers did not consider difficulty as a concept until 2007 they just artificially made everything more difficult so games lasted longer. If a game ever makes me redo a section it is wasting my time and getting in the way of devouring content and spitting it out as fast as humanely possible before moving on to the next content. Anything about completing the content skillfully, or consistently, is cope. I don't care about enjoying or exploring the mechanics of the games I play. I just want to get to the next room and forget the previous room ever existed until I reach the end. I don't even enjoy the moment to moment act of playing videogames so I really just want them out of the way so I can say I beat them to my gamer friends online.

Yeah same, at least I've learned that she stops damaging with her ph1 circular swing a bit sooner than the animation ends. It's a common theme with enemies here, like the big ant warrior has his hitbox appear slightly before his sprite visibly emerges when he does the burrow move.

Why? He telegraphs every attack, has lots of frames where you can hit him, and gives you so much time that you can heal AND refill your soul between phases.
