No, you absolutely could incorporate the game storyline into a TV series by just filling in details into you have a workable main plot and subplot. Okay, since OP is about nocturne let's look into Richter's games. So what happened?
Shaft kidnapping a bunch of women, including Maria and Annette
Ricther shows up to a city on fire
He has to hunt for the maidens while making his way to Shaft
Oops, Shaft managed to revive Dracula just in time
What is a man?
Simple premise. Now expand it. Just talk about why Richter and Annette are in love so you can root for him to complete his mission. Maria looks up to Richter, so you can have her be a companion who learns from him so that she can go off on her own mini adventure until the big fight with Dracula. But since Netflixvania loves being a cynical edge lord about everything, you can play up how Richter is enjoying the fight even if the fight has noble reasons. So that when Dracula dies, he's correct when he calls out Richter for doing all this for the glory rather than to save Annette. Which of course Richter is going deny until years later when he voluntarily helps Shaft revive Dracula. Partially because brainwashing but partially because of his selfish desire to kill Dracula twice and prove himself the ultimate Belmont. A problem that Alcard has to return and put down as the POV and Maria as the supporting character who doesn't want to believe Richter would do something so horrible.
Why could this not be a show that's still in line with the rest of the games?
