Look dude. I feel like the only time the game really does this is in the opening, when youre running through the fields and the green birds or whatever fly up.
Other than that, I dont really see it.
To be fair Its possible I havent gotten far enough in the game.
See the thing is. I kind of want to "hate" this game too, because I just have an extreme aversion to dicksucking, and besides, I think some things about this game sets a sort of precedent and expectation for games of this genre, that arent good. No its not about price.
Its the idea that every indie game needs to be a delayed for 7 years, overly hyped, game with secret content that pushes it to 50+ hours, and baits speedrun and challenge run subhumans.
I've already seen this affect one of the upcoming metroidvanias I was excited for to release this year, and I didnt believe it would truly be released thsi year EVEN before Silksong (it didnt move its date for silksong it just never had one)
But I see them just keep adding and adding on stuff. And now that Silksong has validated the idea that you can just fuck around, no deadlines no anything and release a good game, im not looking forward to the type of development cycles this normalizes.
Everybody is talking about the wrong thing being normalized, that has nothing to do with actually making games. Because theres this weird presupposition that everybody deserves to make fucktons of money off their shitty game by pure virtue.
No, your game that was going to get 500 reviews, never deserved to be priced $40 loser.
