I know overgeneralizing is bad which is why I was asking if it's any different from it's contemporaries. I know there's a rhythm game on mobile that has a two-floor lane which is cool, but from what I've seen of the idol ones they all look mostly similar to each other. So the thing that would set them apart would be the music, along with the characters and the story but not so much the gameplay.

That's the thing. I don't really understand why they'd plan that without announcing a backup or a sequel (maybe they did or will do, dunno). You don't want to lose your core fanbase just like that. It was the same with SideM. Some might switch to another branch within im@s, but japanese gachas run on husbando/waifufags money. No waifu, no money. Cygames knew that and made Umamusume on their own, aiming for similar vibes as CGSS.

Re-reading my post, it does come across as sound ignorant so I apologize for not being more clear. The original post I was replying to implied that these idol games are also focused on gameplay so I thought there some that modeled itself after Cytus or Deemo or Arcaea but I take it that's not the case. I guess these games are more of a vehicle to showcase the songs and the characters more than anything else, not that there's anything wrong with tat.

The rhythm game itself isn't really the main contents (they even have auto play options),
It's more like gathering daily rewards and rolling Gacha for the monthly added SSR outfits and unique items you can place in your Customized Rooms.
They have a monthy episode which feachers 2 or 3 characters with a new Song, so by playing the rhythm game, or doing daily tasks you collect points and unlock further episodes, MVs etc...
Selecting your favorite members and outfits(each SSR gives you a new outfit) and watching the MVs with your custom choice of idos, is basically how people play this game.
Also going to Seasonal Live Concerts all around Japan, is how the hardcore fans enjoy it, I guess.

They'll probably announce a new game soon enough. At this point, CG has been the most successful branch for the series. They won't dump all those characters in the trash. Gakuen is currently popular, but I won't be surprised if it drops off like Shiny Colors. Deresute is at its end, but it's still earning more money than SC or ML.

That game is focused on the orinal iM@s cast/story and really has nothing to do with the rest of the brand.
However, the modders have been working hard to add many nude mods, character models and outfits from other iMas brands, someone even had success importing songs and dances from the Million Live.
Sadly, that method doesn't seem to work for any other brand, so I guess someone needs to recreate them manualy "frame by frame" in Blender, like the old MMD style...
