Assassin's Creed Shadows isn't a bad game - it's a misunderstood gem. it's meant to be played on nightmare difficulty with the HUD off, and no map/objective scouting. played this way, it becomes more of an immersive sim where you have to piece together the clues to receive about each target and identify where they're going to be. and since stealth and combat actually become much harder, you actually have to fully utilize your stealth kit and learn enemy timings. you actually start learning the map, the paths, the castles, and the towns. it becomes a very rewarding experience. the issue is that ubisoft hides this experience under a layer of bullshit that you have to manually remove and adjust

based frog king. "quality of life" changes end up killing the soul of the game, ironically.

Dogshit combat with mediocre stealth with a boring story with boring characters, it's shit and atleast Ghost of Tsushima had fun gameplay so theres not reason to play Shadows

The reason I don't believe you is because I tried playing Valhalla this way, but it has become an absolute fucking slog trying to find all the POIs on my own and constantly having to check the map where the fuck I am, etc. so after around 100 hours or so I gave in and turned some things back on like the compass and POIs on the map.

Is this game actually improved over Valhalla when it comes to this, or I will be filtered again if I turn the markes off again?

Even after doing all of that the gameplay is still boring, they should just copy Ghost of Tsushima combat for the next game

I finished it and finding the target didn't seem that intuitive to me. I took the easy path and enabled infinite scouts.

not sure how it works in Valhalla but if you get within a certain radius of a POI for a certain target/quest it should show up in your compass so there is a trial and error way to see if your hunch is correct. you can also go further into the immersion with shadows because you can disable the quest ui and just read the physical notes you pick up or encounter to find a target's location. they're usually pretty straightforward but it can be annoying managing all those physical notes if you hop from target to target

It really is as simple as turning off the minimap.
