Do you CHUDS actually BUY games from here or is it just a glorified piracy front
Anonymous No.720180231
Both. I buy so my friends can pirate.

You own the games unlike steam

Both. I do both. Unless it's multiplayer then it's Steam but otherwise GOG.

Both (There's some games here I don't remember buying like KoF2002 but whatever)

>Buy game from GoG so they keep releasing DRM free games with 1 click installers
>Anon gets access to easily pirate said games with zero effort instead of configuring dos box and troubleshooting random titles with tons of bullshit
>Anon proceeds to laugh and hiss and fling shit
Not that all GoG titles run great, but they do eliminate a lot of bullshit for some games.

I just wish they'd do some more TLC with their backlog. There are some games that are impossible to beat without hitting up community fixes, like Interstate '76.

I got about 350 games on GOG and just over 1k on steam - Almost everything on GOG is the older stuff that isn't on steam and the free stuff they've given away over the years so very few few actual dollars spent compared to steam where all the big purchases happen. And of course anything multiplayer is typically done on steam/EA/Blizzard/rockstar apps - i don't use ubisoft and epic games storefronts since nothing on there really interests me but I've been thinking about alan wake 2 at some point which would mean epic and picking up the avatar games on ubisoft's launcher.

If you want more drm games then you better be buying from here. Do you want the Denuvo nightmare to endure forever? Then buy on GOG kiddo.

I do. But it's best for older games (as its name implies). Another anon here summarized pretty well:
For multiplayer games, then steam.
For single player games, GoG.
I'd add to that the single player games you buy through gog are best those that are finished, ie. With all their DLC nd patches.

Agreed. Unfortunately devs can sometimes treat GOG users as 2nd class citizens.

I pirate most of my games but if I vuy ones it's ONLY on steam. No steam no buy unironically.
Anonymous No.720189186
I have a gog account but all my games from there are giveaways. Best ones they've given for free are Prey, Brigador and Battle Realms.
There's also the three Shadowrun games but I only played Dragonfall

You can't pirate anything from GoG. wtf are you talking about? You can only buy stuff from there and sometimes they offer games for free.

Now, gog-games, that's where you get free shit

It's great for old games because they curate the minimal community patches necessary for a good experience on modern hardware for you.

Idiotic statement. Steam allows any and all DRM on their games, some uncracked to this day (Just Cause 3 comes to mind)

Annoyingly for me, they're doling out the old Silver/Gold Box DnD games of late, which I spent $30 on Steam last Xmas (lowest it was at the time in my currency), and have only cleared three games of the one pack since. Least whoever manages those packs actually takes good fucking care of them on Steam (and I presume GOG), unlike most old game releases on Valve's platform.

I buy older games and some newer games I'd really like to have an offline copy of, but never at full price. I only ever buy when they're on sale. It really helps you to get around the hassle of compatibility or patches necessary, and their one-click major mod installers are a fantastic way of having a separate install just for that version of bigger mods. I'm glad they decided to do that and it actually makes me want to buy games just for that.

>buy from Steam
>steal from GOG and Nintendo
Simple as.
Anonymous No.720199453
I buy everything that isn't Steam-exclusive on GOG to support future releases.
I only pirate games that I'm not sure my craptop can run, or those whose creators I specifically don't want to support. Usually I buy those afterwards, unless they sucked.
>consoles
I only pirate and emulate a handful of pre-2000 games.

Based pick. SWAT 4 is one of those lost gems that actually benefits from GOG’s existence. No launcher BS, community-made SEF mod works flawlessly, and it’s still one of the best tactical shooters ever made. Shame it never got a proper sequel, but I’ll take replaying the Meat Barn map at 2am over most modern shooters any day.
