It's not trying to be an achievement you brainlet.
What makes DKC stand out? It's gameplay? Really, all you do is jump and roll, two buttons and that's it. Oh ok sure, sometimes you switch. THREE BUTTONS. Does that make DKC bad? FUCK NO, it stands out in it's level design, satisfying use of it's basic gameplay mechanics to navigate the levels and of course it's unique, distinct art style.
To be even more obvious, look at the original Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and compare it to Crash 4. Even with a few different ways to jump it was all pretty basic, the new game threw that away to be more complicated(while fucking up other aspects that's not the point we're talking about today). Why did they make it more complicated? Why couldn't the game be good enough with a few basic controls?
There's nothing wrong with basic. Most beloved games are basic, it's all about the execution beyond being basic.
