It honestly has the best catalog because it hit the sweetspot of AAA devs not needing countless years to make games while indie devs were able to make games with relatively high production value and low dev costs.

I got a pre-launch PS4 because my sister worked at Circuit City at the time. I got it like 3 months before launch day and it was defective. It would randomly power on and off and eject discs. I was playing a raid in Destiny and we finally got to the end for once and the disc ejected and returned me to the menu.

I upgraded to a PS5 Pro recently and barely play it after beating Oblivion Remastered and Stellar Blade.

ps3 and ps5 are the only bad sony consoles

I got lucky with my PS4, 9 years, never changed thermal paste and don't even dust it off really.
My PS3 super slim only laste 2 and a half years, I recently bought an old regular slim which still runs well. The controllers getting worse and trying to get new ones is it the bigger problem there.

It gets worse in the last third of the game because you're not getting new mechanics introduced anymore, the existing levels are all just executions of the basic cutting mechanic on repeat, and there's not much to do anymore so it feels like it's going through the motions. Once you get to the garden maze area that's when I really wanted to check out but it still had like an hour left. Not a bad game at all but don't act like it's something truly amazing.

The hidden downside of consoles now just being locked down mini pcs instead of unique devices, devs can just click "port to ps4" and cannibalize ps5 sales. The better question is why are the PS5 and PS6 being made?

When you make a new console there is an expectation that there will be new technology. But a PS5 game is completely indistinguishable from a PS4 game. They look the same.

The only reason developers want stronger hardware is so they can cheap out with shit like unreal engine and jeetcode. The games don't look any better. They don't play any differently. There's nothing NEW man
