All it did was change the pixels of a screenshot. That's like 1.4% work as much as redoing the whole fucking scene internally. That character? Is like 30 different PNGs of segmented body parts with 50+ pieces in the PNG scattered all over the fucking place at random. AI wouldn't be able to do shit with it unless you assembled it into a picture, then ran AI over it, then dissembled it and put it back into all its broken little pieces.

People who work with assets know what I'm talking about. it'd be just as easy to do it by hand because the actual work isn't something an AI could do unless it's specifically trained to do it.

I was partially indifferent with AI (even though I leaned more toward a dislike), I thought a lot of the backlash was overblown and performative, like they've been told they NEED to hate AI. My opinion is that if someone wants to use it as part of their process, they are free to do so. Two things here mainly: one, the people who should be taking advantage of it are very much against it out of principle. And second, the ones who are using it are just talentless fucks with an even bigger overblown sense of self worth than artists.

Though with how recently every website and image board/search has been flooded with low quality AI slop I'm starting to fucking hate it.

Well anyone can think of turning an existing classical portrait into an anime character or anything else and just copy it, that isn't anything new. People parody works long before already. Doing the actual artwork is the issue. People use AI to shortcut that, particularly those who don't have any artistic skill. However, it's not always doing the best job in portraying it well or as accurate as the person would want it to be. They always have to compromise and accept whatever is pushed out by the AI as "good enough".
