Classic Everquest since basically everything requires socialization. On Project 1999, I had a ton of conversations with people in random grind groups and a longer friends list than most MMOs. A more sociable person would make a lot of friends.

I remember this one notorious erp fag playing a female healer girl in a bikini in the original WoW. But he would barely even play the game and just basically erp 24/7.
I managed to fake a relationship with him to then get his address under the guise of wanting to fuck him irl. I then showed up at his house with my baseball bat and beat the crap out of him. Fun times.
I went into his house and stole his gaming PC and sold it on the black market. From that day on, he would never come online on WoW ever again. This is how I solved at least a small part of the erp crisis.

Unless you're looking for erp buddies who don't actually care about you at all and have a myriad of brain issues which makes them completely insufferable to interact with. There's a certain dying catgirl goon MMO you can play for that, if you can stomach hundreds of hours of awful story first anyways.

WoW is pretty bad nowadays as you can do just about everything while barely talking to anyone. You need to go out of your way to join Discord servers for anything even close to socialising.

I would have said SS13 but nowadays only the most fucking insane people still play that shit and it's suffering a rampant gooning crisis so good luck getting anywhere there unless you want to jerk off with grown ass men.

Playing it like a singleplayer game but being surrounded by other people is a bad thing because the other people would just harm immersion with there being suddenly 30 adventurers in the village, all questing and killing the same mobs over and over again.
The good part about MMOs is socialising and teaming up to take on threats that nobody could alone.
Sadly, nobody plays MMOs like this anymore and everyone is just obsessed with SOLOING so MMOs got degraded to very shitty singleplayer games.

Life is an MMO yet you don't have to group up to do everything, for most people the only times you're forced to group up is for work. It should be the same with MMOs.

No the 30 adventures in the village makes the game feel alive, the fact that there are actual people running around and not just NPCs is huge for immersion.
If all you want to do is team up to take down monsters then why not play a lobby game like Vindictus or Monster Hunter instead? They have none of that annoying MMO shit that you hate.

others, they form in the first 2 days of a new game being released. you either join at launch or never.
